A few more random things about the Oscar red carpet:

1. Nicole Kidman's head is being eaten by a giant bow. Send help.
2. Is Eddie Murphy's date wearing a breastplate?! *boggles*
3. The hem of Lisa Ling's dress frightens me.
4. Yeah, Jennifer Hudson's jacket doesn't look any better when it's moving, either.
5. Just seeing Steve Carell on the red carpet made me squeal.
6. Oh, Anne Hathaway, that black part of your bodice does weird things to your midsection.
7. I covet Cate Blanchett's dress and want to jump Reese Witherspoon. HUMMINA.

EDIT: Oh, and also I think I really love Kate Winslet's dress, especially the color, although I'm not sure if it's because it looks good on her or because I don't think I've ever seen anyone wear that particular color to these things.

Words cannot express enough how pretty I think Helen Mirren looks tonight.

On the other hand, she's been nominated for an Oscar 5 times now, and she hasn't won. And won't win tonight. Scorsese ain't got nothing on her. Not that I'm bitter about her losing for Eternal Sunshine or anything.

That definitely is ridiculous. Although I'm still bitter about Scorsese not winning for Goodfellas, so I can relate.

Sometimes the Academy is on crack... I couldn't believe that neither Alfred Hitchcock nor Robert Altman has ever won Best Director.
