apocalypsos: (me drinking)

-- Happy Scranton's St. Patrick's Day Parade Day, otherwise known as Public Drunkenness Day! Due to the fact that I have to go to work tonight (boo!), I'm drinking cherry vodka and Pepsi now. What? What with my work schedule throwing my days into whack, this technically counts as my drink with dinner. Which happens to be Tostitos and jalapeno cheddar cheese dip. Did I mention that sometimes I love being a grown-up?

-- Tell me what currently makes you love being a grown-up. 'Cause, you know, that shit makes me happy. :)

-- And before anyone asks, no, I don't know why Scranton's having their St. Pat's parade today when St. Patrick's Day is on a Saturday this year. Knowing the people in this area it's so that everyone can now mainline seventeen-cent beers and puke on a cop's shoes in Courthouse Square two Saturdays in a row instead of just the one.

-- Why they haven't set an episode of The Office during Public Drunkenness Day, I'll never know. Comedy gold, people. COMEDY GOLD.

-- That thing that was better than Jensen Ackles? Was a metric assload of Jess's veggie stir fry with the faux meat in it. WOOHOO! Not better than Jensen, alas, but damn close.

-- Yesterday afternoon I printed out all of the Books of Boggs stuff that I've got done and the bits and pieces of four other novels I've got planned. Today I print out the school for villains, Dead Men In Dark Suits (no, seriously, MASSIVE rewrites), and the Moonlight Hall stuff, which frankly I don't know what the hell to do with. In summation, I continue to be a Very Responsible Person. (I keep saying it, it might come true, you know what I mean?)

-- Yesterday I bought this shirt. I'm seriously starting to suspect that I let my inner pig buy my clothes.

-- Why do I feel the urge to write a G-rated J-squared CW RPS AU set with the entire crew in kindergarten? Clearly I've been driven insane. *headdesk*

My favorite thing about being a grown up?

No one tells me not to buy or play games (console / PC) and I can waste my whole weekend that way if I damn well want to.

I love being a grownup because I can:

1. sleep when I want to (rather than being told when I have to)

2. eat what I want whenever (Twinkies or potato chips for breakfast? No problem!)

3. enjoy HOT SMUT! Reading it, writing it, looking at dirty pictures! Gimme smut and nothing but!

I love exactly those things as well.
Only it's all on hiatus 'cause my mother is living with me since my divorce. Supposedly to help out. Mostly, it just feels like I'm 16 again.

I love being a grown up because you don't have to be ashamed of your likes and dislikes. Poeple listen to you and you can argue with people and they can't punish you for it. No one can tell you what to do.

I can make teachers' lives HELL.

You can do what you want because YOU'RE paying for it.

My kid thinks I rock.

You can tell your parents "My roof, my rules"

If you want to eat like a kid you can

You can pick up stuff in stores. You can also run faster if you drop it.

Tell me what currently makes you love being a grown-up.

What makes me happy is having my own place where I can live as a sign.

well, i still live with my parents, so i don't have complete independence, but i would have to say the best part is having a driver's license. and not asking permission for anything. [see discussion with my parents before my college graduation last year: "my 2 friends and i are going to disney world". not 'can i go?' but "i'm going." *g*]

Heh, I had a similar conversation with my mom about spending the night at a boy's house one time.

I asked her if I could have a ride there the evening planned for the sleepover, and a ride back in the morning. (I had my license, but no car, and public transit was sort of irrelevant.) She went through the *roof* about what was I thinking asking her permission to Spend The Night With A Boy, and what kind of parent would she be if she allowed me to, and on and on and on.

When she finally wound down, I pointed out that since I was of the age of consent, it was neither my place to ask her permission to spend the night with a boy, nor was it her place to grant it -- all I was asking for was the ride.

In the echoing silence that followed, Dad quietly let me know that he'd be up for giving me the ride.

Fantastic. *grins*

My mother has had reactions of 'we'll see' to which I reply that I'm not asking, I'm informing.

1. am not an adult, therefore must sneak out to drink. Am still waiting for 19th birthday.
2. would LOVE a G kindergarten CW RPS AU. Like whoa.
3. Finally figured out what your icon really is, and am appreciating its deep and profound meaning. (the dinosaur)

Er...I love being able to go to the bookstore and/or library whenever I want (well, during the hours that they're open), instead of having to whine at my parents until they give in and drive me there.

Two things I love about being grown up.

1) Being able to bypass the kids and enter an age restricted establishment.

2) Having money to buy my OWN toys.

P.S. And ok, telling kids to stop misbehaving.
