OMG TELL ME WHAT THE HELL MAMA PETRELLI CAN DO, DAMN IT. (You know, aside from rocking hardcore.)
And I just ... it's so the entire Petrelli family that's slashy, isn't it? It's not just Claire and Nathan and Peter, now they've dragged Mama into their awesome extra-touchy hotness. I know it's bad when Mama is putting Nathan's jacket on and adjusting his collar and all I can think is, "KISS HER, DAMMIT! (homigod where the hell did that come from? *cries*)"
While I'm on the subject can I just say how much I love Peter and Claire together right now? I mean, okay, yeah, I like to picture them making out, but I mean just in general, you know? As uncle and niece? I know there's that annoying theory that Peter was ... I don't know, left on the Petrelli doorstep by superpowered wolves or something, but their being related is the whole point. You can see them setting up the whole "Bloodlines are important!" thing a mile away. They get Claire back to her biological family, and they're all superpowered. Micah's the result of two married superhumans. "Nathan" in the possible future makes a reference to "outlawing their breeding," making it obvious that it's known that superhuman abilities are passed genetically. If the possible future is any indication, the baby Janice is carrying has powers as well that he inherited from Matt (why else would she have to go into hiding with the boy?). Hiro's father giving Claire to Mr. Bennet indicates that he is just as much a part of this as Mama Petrelli and Linderman, and if THEY have powers and Hiro does as well, he probably does also. Also, if Shanti had powers I have a really ridiculously difficult time believing Mohinder doesn't.
Yeah, I'm still irritated by the theory. The only reason for Peter to not be a blood relation to Claire is so that they can make out on NBC and not just in AU fic without it being skeevy. And "But they have such great chemistry!" is NOT a reason.
ANYWAY.
I love the misdirection that DL and Jessica now think that Linderman did something to them (and by extension, Micah) to make them the way they are. It's weird ... this is one of the few times I've genuinely liked both of them. Yes, even Jessica.
And yay! Micah knew he was being scammed! I was starting to think Jessica was dropping him on his wee curly-topped head for kicks in between scenes.
How funny is it that after Sylar is guilt-ridden by the thought of killing millions of innocent people the first person he calls is Mohinder? "I'm going to explode! Come find me! I need a hug!"
Of course, as we all know the recommended cure for early-onset woobitude is to stab your mother. (It was probably a good idea, at least from my point of view, if only because I had a moment of hearing, "Suddenly SYLAAAAAAAAAAAR!" in my head and if that was the only way to end it, so be it.)
Also, Mohinder is more adorable than ever when talking to Molly. Oh, how much do I want him to take her home and keep her now? At the very least, she recognizes that he's kind of a dork. And she likes him! And then she hugged him, and my ovaries went "Wheeeeeee!" and spontaneously generated a fetus. I'm due in January. Send booties!
The thing about his blood curing the virus seems odd to me, though. I mean, okay, I get how it might save Shanti, I think, but how it saves Molly ... is that even right? I'm not exactly a genius when it comes to medical stuff, so seriously, does that even work or are the Heroes writers waving a "Mohinder's got powers" plotline under our noses?
I've said it already but I'll say it again -- that face that Nathan made when Claire said that his being able to fly was cool was so an understated, "Yeah, it kind of is, isn't it?" Which ... honestly, he doesn't even show that face to Peter. Hell, Hiro's the only one who's seen anything close.

Mohinder and Molly really are the cutest ever. And I think maybe they luckily have the same blood type...or maybe Mohinder is lucky enough to be a universal donor? Or maybe he has super seekrit healing powers.

Date: 2007-05-08 02:55 am (UTC)Mohinder's power is to cure special-specific diseases! His parents bred him to have that specific gift!
Because of that, if he works really hard, he may develop tangential powers, like the ability to identify other special people on the street, or make them sick instead of better (which is how Sylar thought he'd kill all of them for his evil brain lab)!

Date: 2007-05-08 02:57 am (UTC)I wanna know if Heidi and the boys have powers! And if Nathan is going to make Linderman heal her. Or if Linderman's going to offer to in exchange from something for Nathan.

Date: 2007-05-08 03:03 am (UTC)It seems like you don't need to have a parent with powers to have powers, but if you do have at least one parent with powers you will have powers. If that even makes sense. :)
Considering the evidence they've given us so far I'm saying the Petrelli boys definitely have powers, but I'm not so sure Heidi's got them. But, oh. Oh, yes. I can totally see Linderman going, "I'll fix your problem if you fix mine. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge." *flails*

Date: 2007-05-08 03:50 am (UTC)The trait runs in families, but there could still be sports popping up all over the place. Indeed, that's what they basically said in the last episode - even with known-specials being unable to have kids (legally), they were still being born.

Date: 2007-05-08 03:03 am (UTC)I'm thinking Mohinder's power is an ability to negate all powers. The way Peter absorbs them, but the inverse of that... or something. And my bio-knowledge sense was tingling throughout all the episode going 'this is WRONG; WRONGWRONGWONG!!!' but it was too awesome to actually make me listen to it. :-)
Wait, if Shanti had powers - and what could she do, BTW? - does this mean Papa Suresh had it too? Or maybe it was Mama Suresh-- but she didn't say anything all the way back during the beggining of the season, did she? *explodes*

And re: Mohinder's blood - I'm currently handwaving it as he simplified it for Molly, and so it's something more specific about him having particular antibodies in his blood that will fight the virus. Although now I am all, "But how did he get the antibodies? Was his father experimenting on him in utero to save his sister??? Also, where is this virus coming from?" because I remember the Legacy virus, from back in the day. Hm.

Date: 2007-05-08 09:11 am (UTC)It would take about ten hours or so to get him there, but then again we can't exactly be sure of when the DL/Jessica exchange is taking place, particularly since the Traveling Radioactive Road Show is shown boosting a car in St. Louis early in the episode and walking the streets of Manhattan at the end of it.

"I'm going to explode! Come find me! I need a hug!"
*gigglesnorts* Clearly they were doing lots of...ahem...BONDING on that road trip.

Date: 2007-05-08 06:04 am (UTC)I don't remember enough from (not going to) cell bio class, but antibodies are molecule-specific and not don't have to be from the same blood type. So as long as Molly and Shanti have the same thing, Mohinder's antibodies would work on Molly too.

Date: 2007-05-09 02:29 am (UTC)Mohinder was conceived to save his sister. It seems odd to me that he would simply be born with antibodies to a virus without having the virus given to him already. Why couldn't the disease be given to anyone and then the antibodies be derived by them? Why did it have to be a sibling of Shanti's? It means a lot if this particular virus only affects people with superhuman abilities especially in regards to Mohinder -- would that or wouldn't that mean that he has abilities himself and doesn't know yet?
The whole thing is that there a high likelihood that this virus could be used later on in the series as a weapon against superhumans. Future!Mohinder said there was no way to stifle the superhuman gene in people, but here we have this virus. It's lethal from what we know, but it also keeps those afflicted from using their abilities. If after the explosion (if there is one) the government feels the need to try and find a way to "cure" these people ... oh, look what the Company has in this little vial!
How Sylar takes in those brains doesn't affect future plotlines nearly as much as this new development does. :)

I'm loving *all of it*. And i'm with you - i actually almost liked Jessica/Niki in this ep!
And i wanted Mikah to be able to blast the shapeshifter chicka with some kind of power but o well.
And Mohinder is so damn *pretty*. OMFG.
And for just one second i thought maybe Gabriel/Syler was gonna put his mom into a giant snowglobe *forever*.
And does Gabriel as his name mean anything cool, i wonder? Hrmmmmm.
Love!

Date: 2007-05-09 10:58 pm (UTC)The angel Gabriel is refered to as the "Left Hand of God", and foretold the birth of Jesus (or he dictated the Koran, if you're Muslim). He's the saint of broadcasters (but not if you're Muslim). He gave Daniel a message about the End of Days, but Wikipedia isn't telling me what the message was.

Date: 2007-05-10 11:52 am (UTC)Oh, me too! I just love their dynamic together, and how that shifted over the course of the episode. We couldn't have had Claire hero-worshipping Peter all the time, but then she realizes that he doesn't have all the answers, and now they're more of partners-in-arms. I love it. I love their determination and courage and even their uncertainty and fear. They're like the new generation facing off against the old (though they don't know it yet.)
It's OK with Hiro and Claire, because Nathan doesn't feel compelled to take care of them, look after them, protect them, make sure everything is OK. I always feel like the only person Nathan really *worries* about is Peter.
