Meh.
It's not that I hate the spinoff setup, although the whole talking-elevator thing annoyed the crap out of me. I wasn't even spoiled for as to the nature of said elevator and even I was like, "Addison, are you deficient?! That's security" before Tim Daly pointed it out. I'm not sure I'd want a woman too cracked to figure that out putting her hands all over me, you know what I mean?
It's just that the characters just aren't interesting me. At all. Not even a little bit. Okay, Chris Lowell interests me, but that's because he's pretty and witty andgay in monster need of a haircut yummy. But when everybody else is up in Seattle having much more interesting dialogue and even more fascinating storylines it just wasn't sucking me in. I mean, when I'd much rather we went back to see what's happening with Izzie, George and Callie, that's saying something.
Speaking of, I can't remember who said they like the characters and hate the storyline (I think it may have been the TWoP recapper, actually), but now I'm starting to feel the same way. Seriously, how many times have there already been adulterous relationships on this show? Ellis and the Chief, Derek and Meredith, Addison and McSteamy, and now George and Izzie. So when all else failssend two guys into the room carrying guns resort to adultery, I suppose.
And the thing is that I might be able to buy this relationship if a.) they'd built up to it differently and b.) the marriage had never occurred, which makes the whole thing feel as if George is having doubts and making a grab for the first other option that he sees, which I wouldn't believe if they had made more of an effort to give the two of them SOME chemistry before they just threw them into bed together. And I don't mean best-friend chemistry. They had that in spades. But there's a transition from best-friends to falling-in-love that isn't that hard to get to and yet we never quite got it.
*sigh*
Also, Thatcher is an asshat but we knew that already.

And also ...
1. I downloaded the episode to rewatch and went over the scene with DL and Jessica in Linderman's gallery. A few points:
-- The painting of Claire's autopsy is on the computer screen that they pass as they go to the painting of Micah.
-- The painting of Micah in a burning New York is on top, above a painting of Future!Hiro speaking to Peter in the subway and Hiro pulling the little girl away from in front of the bus.
-- The items hanging from the Hawkins Family History Wall include a couple of photos of DL as a baby, his prison admission, one of their hospital records, a picture of Niki and Jessica hugging as little girls, photos of DL and Niki, the whole family eating dinner on the couch, and Niki putting her head on Micah's shoulder for a Christmas morning photo, and DL's fourth grade report card. Yeah, I paid attention to all of that and I'm pretty sure I got most if not all of it (okay, probably not all of it) right off the top of my head. \o/
-- DL states that they're the only people they know like this. It makes sense that they've gotten the impression that Linderman's paying such close attention to them because they're the only people around with powers (and possibly may have done something to them to make that happen). They've only run into three other superhumans so far (unless I'm forgetting somebody) -- Linderman, who didn't tell them what he could do; Nathan, who also didn't tell Niki/Jessica anything, and Hiro, who never got to tell DL what he could do. As far as DL and Niki/Jessica know, their family is the only ones with powers. (Like I said, unless I'm forgetting someone. It's possible. I've been awake all night long. Who needs coffee when you have a night job? ;))
2. It was mentioned in the comments of the other Heroes post that that might really be Candice in that scene with Nathan and Mama Petrelli. After rewatching it, I don't think so. Not that it's not possible -- Candice is in the city and it's easy enough to believe it might be her. But nothing she says (however cold all of it was) is really that much of a stretch to believe coming from Mama Petrelli. And with Micah's escape attempt I can't see Candice leaving him alone right now.
3. First the Traveling Radioactive Road Show had bus tickets and now they're stealing cars. I don't even want to know what they did to get kicked off that bus. (And you know they did. Heh.)
4. The timelines of the various plotlines are a bit wonky if you try to think about it too much. The Petrellis don't change their outfits, so that's all happening the same day. Hiro and Ando chasing after Sylar goes well into the night. Mohinder and Molly's timeline is difficult to tell, although since they pan down from Micah and "Niki" in the skyscraper to Mohinder meeting with Thompson it's safe to presume they're at the same time. Micah and "Niki" look to be comfortably settled in that apartment, yet DL just found out Micah was missing at the beginning of the episode (Figuring Linderman immediately drove Micah to a company jet, flew him to New York, and got him into that hotel, that's something like eight hours right there, and that's not even putting into consideration the fact that they drive off without Candice and then she's there in New York with Micah.) As for the Traveling Radioactive Road Show they pick up a car in St. Louis at the beginning of the episode and are walking the streets of Manhattan at the end of it. Mapquest says it takes about fifteen and a half hours to drive straight through from St. Louis to New York and both scenes are set in daylight in November, so presumably they stopped on the way to eat, sleep, shower and complain to Geico.
So basically I have NO FREAKING CLUE how all of this jives. Heh.
5. Who wants to bet the virus in Molly's system which is hindering her powers is going to be used as a weapon against the heroes next season? Who's read X-Men comics before? *raises hand into air* MEMEMEME!
6. Also, I've got ten bucks that says after Molly's cured she takes one look at that picture and tells Mohinder, "I know where your sister is!"

Date: 2007-05-08 11:49 am (UTC)Well, Jessica's also met Matt Parkman, who told her he could "hear" her partner Niki, but I'm not sure that she's made the connection.
4. The timelines of the various plotlines are a bit wonky if you try to think about it too much.
The timelines are kinda wonky, but the show's been known to play with them before. Also, I seem to recall (haven't finished downloading the ep yet) that Ando asks Hiro if he really wants to wait two days to kill Sylar when Sylar's right there. That would imply that the two of them arrive in New York the day before the election occurs.
The Bennet/Parkman/Sprague trio hits New York on the day of the election, having hotwired the car in St. Louis the day before. And clearly, Mama Petrelli was in to give Nathan a pep talk the evening before the election.
Although... there's a substantial inaccuracy on the calendar DL and Jessica are looking at. It shows Tuesday (Election Day) as November 8, 2006. But (a) Hiro's visit to the future showed the headline from November 8 as "Petrelli Wins in Landslide" day -- clearly the day after the election -- and (b) November 8 doesn't fall on a Tuesday in 2006 anyways. Bad script assistant.
But ah! Clearly Linderman neglected to pick up a calendar from 2006 and only had one lying around from 2005, when November 8 does fall on a Tuesday. *grin* No-Prize, please? ; )
As for #5...? Who wants to bet that, before that, the virus is used to help eliminate Sylar?
Sylar's clearly the Big Bad of season 1. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Company is going to be the Big Bad of season 2. Which hopefully means we'll see more of Claude and the Haitian. *grin*

Date: 2007-05-09 04:29 am (UTC)Anyway, back to my point - I sort of figured that Micah would have been put under a different type of security, now that there was no particular use in Candace watching him. And I think the thing that really made me wonder was the fact that the Petrelli-cest was... creepy? Or something? Usually it's just ridiculous chemistry and inappropriateness, possibly with possessiveness, but this seemed off, to me. And the last time we had creepy Petrelli-cesty vibes? It was Sylar-as-Nathan. *shrugs* But like I said, it could TOTALLY still be Ma Petrelli. ;)
Re: 3 - Comedy GOLD.
Re: 4 - I'm just figuring that the timelines for the various plotlines weren't running in parallel, and then I'm NOT thinking about it too hard. ;)
Re: 5 - I sort of wondered if THAT wasn't what Creepy Eric Roberts meant when he said that Molly could stop Sylar. Like, the whole "being able to find him" thing is a red herring. Clearly the company would NOT be above viral weapons. (Ah, X-Men.)
Re: 6 - I was just waiting for that to happen!
