It's not exactly something I schedule my TV-watching around but I've always kind of liked Gilmore Girls. I'm a whore for snappy dialogue so even when the plot sucked I could always sit through an episode.

My reaction to the finale is summed up thusly:

OH, LUKE.

*keeps him*

*****

Watching this is making me a little glad it's looking like it was cancelled. (Well, that, and the malicious glee I get thinking about how the Save One Two Shows poll completely failed even though Kristin and her groupies screwed with it. *cackles*)

I like Piz with Veronica and I like Dick and Mac and Wallace and THEY'RE GOING TO FUCK THEM ALL OVER.

*sigh*

Not that they haven't been fucking them over, but still.

EDIT: I keep seeing everybody stating how awful it is or isn't to be happy Jerry Falwell's dead. Me, personally? I'm not happy he's dead, I'm just thrilled that he's gone. I don't want anybody to die, but man, am I glad we aren't going to deal with him and his asinine behavior anymore. I think it was [livejournal.com profile] sabotabby who expressed the sentiment I've been thinking all day, which was that for a guy who advocated gay-bashing, murder, bigotry and genocide I should be allowed to feel THAT much.

I only recently started watching Gilmore Girls, after a lovely new American flat mate brought the 1st season box set over with her whilst she's at our university for the semester. And all of us to a man (okay, a flat of 4 women) have fallen in love with it. Which is very surprising considering the varied personalities and love for TV violence here ;) Furthermore, this flat mate has just bought the 2nd season box set for us Brits as a going away present *hugs the world*

And it's actually nice to know that they're not going to drag it out forever. I've heard that it goes downhill a bit from season 4 onwards, but the Luke thing you are mentioning - I am assuming from your reaction it ends as it should?! - seems to fit nicely and draw the whole thing full circle by the end of the series.

Also, in reaction to the VM and GG cancellation in light of the Save One Show debacle... = HAHA x infintity.

I'm not petty. Not at all ;)

Seasons 1 through 5 were great, but it really went downhill starting with season 6. I'm glad they're not dragging it out either.

I'll have to give at least seasons 4 and 5 a chance as well. Thanks for the info :)

You know, I just nabbed the first three seasons of Gilmore Girls from my mom the geek runs strong in this family and ended up watching way more than the single episode I sat down to watch. xD;

And the whole "OMG WEE!SAMMY" didn't contribute to it. Much. Er. Yeah. xDDDD

I've heard more recent rumors that they're not cancelling VM after all... but I really hope they are cancelling it, because I hate this being torn between watching it because, well, it's Veronica Mars, and not watching it because I know it will just make me cry.

I say: if Vinnie wins the election, it's because they think it's being renewed; if Keith wins, it's because it's really over, or at least they thought it was when they filmed the finale.

Really? I'm glad he's dead, and I'm mildly confused/horrified/amused that people might have a problem with that. Not only was he an unrepentant asshole, but he was also 73. Are we supposed to be sorry that he only lived to be 73? It's fucking 73. There is no tragedy there.

THEY'RE GOING TO FUCK THEM ALL OVER.

Truer words were never spoken. God, I loved those characters so much and it kills me what they've done to them.

Also, I am totally with you on the Kristin thing. Is it wrong to take so much glee when certain people get what they deserve? If her poll had even an ounce of credibility it might have made a difference.

Aahaha! I just realized I used Kristin and credibility in the same sentence. As if.

You know, I was watching GG for the snark between Lorelai and Luke... when the whole "I do/don't want to marry you" thing started, it went downhill from there :(

And VM? The first season, I watched it for the case. The second season, because of Logan. The third... well, lets just say that Pizonica - as fans call it - turned me off really quickly :( I really hope it won't get re-newed.

Eh, I'm just a little hesitant to say, "Yay, he's dead!" about anybody, but I'll happily admit to being glad he's not here anymore to be the insufferable asshole he always was.

Oh, Lord. WHAT ABOUT LUKE? I'm not going to watch the finale, haven't seen past season 6 ... but what happens? Spoil me via email, if you would. :)

Oh, Rory and Lorelei were supposed to go on this trip to go on a bunch of roller coasters before she had to look for a job, but then she ended up getting one with an online magazine traveling with Barack Obama's campaign. She was supposed to leave in only a couple of days, though, so it meant that the graduation party Stars Hollows was going to throw her was going to have to be cancelled.

So Luke got Sookie to make desserts, planned to make burgers and hot dogs, got the entire town to help out, and then when Babette predicted it was going to rain heavily the night of the party he went around town gathering everybody's tents and raincoats and whatnot and stayed up all night sewing a HUGE tent.

And when Lorelei found out he said, "I just want to see you happy," and then they KISSED, and for the enormous clusterfuck that the writers turned their romantic relationship into it was really, really sweet.
