I keep thinking back to the obituary I got in the mail a few months ago....I worked at a national magazine handling the small and classifed ad space. A co worker handled the full page ad space.

I did her job most of the time. The owner of the place was a lunatic in more ways than one, but part of it was she thought she was a big health nut. (she was also severely bi polar, would not make up her mind to stay on meds or off them, and just...well, you can probably guess the rest from the rest of the story) The girl I worked with spent all her time in the onsite gym working out, while I did MY job AND hers, as well as increased ad sales for both by 30% and reduced errors and improved the way things were done massively.

I was refused a raise because "I needed to loose weight...if I would just run up and down the halls and loose some weight she'd think about it." (I wish I had gotten that on a recording) This was for a job for a national magazine that a LOCAL magazine was paying around $14.00 an hour income for similiar work, and I was making minimum wage.

My co worker, who exercised all the time and never ate, just smoked like a fiend and drank diet soda also did a whole hell of a lot of coke, and I got her obit the a couple months ago, she died...in part of anorexia, in part of the damage that years of a cocaine habit did. But hey, she died WELL PAID, and SKINNY, and that's all that matters now adays, isn't it?

I quit that fucking job and told the owner she could kiss my fat ass, and while I knew it would do no good I was going to report her comment and file a discrimination complaint against her (which I did, of course it went no where, her husband worked for the City Council.)

I'm so sick of all this bullshit. I know two people who've had to have liver transplants for taking "fat burning" pills (yeah, they burn fat, they kill off your internal organs first) and they keep being sold because of the way they are worded the FDA "can't take action." and yet the FDA will HAMMER anyone who tries to market stevia as a sweetener, it must be labeled as a "food additive". Stevia is an all natural sweet tasting herb that can be used to replace all the nasty fake shit like aspartame/sucralose/asculfame K/sacchrin etc.

The damn diet companies pay off the FDA to keep killing people, and the proctor and gamble and the other artificial sweetener companies pay off the FDA to keep poisoning people and prevent stuff that is actually good for you from being used, and this BITCH in the article above is whining about the american idol girl being an example of all that is wrong with today's youth????
