Cable's fixed! Woohoo!
Jun. 29th, 2007 02:50 pmOnly took ten minutes, too. And it wasn't a guy who knew my mom, which is good because the apartment is in monster need of dusting and anybody else would actually tell her.
The best is that Otis was Mr. Social Butterfly like he always is when people come over. He'll give me this look like, "This guy's okay, right?" and as long as I don't answer with a bloodcurdling scream he'll immediately go over purring and looking to be petted, which the cable guy thought was hilarious. I always have to keep from laughing when he does that, because when he first came here he was so people-shy and twitchy that he hid in the back of my closet, I didn't see him for an entire day and it took my dad and I about forty minutes to finally find him. And now you can't rid of him. Heh.
And then as he was leaving the guy was like, "Oh, what are THOSE?" and so Elliot got to play the, "Hi, let's learn about chinchillas!" game. Emmett dived right into the bathhouse and made little grunting noises until he went away but Elliot was all friendly and sniffing him and whatnot.

In other news I just realized how long it's been since I've gotten to sit down and read a book. *sigh*

Date: 2007-06-29 07:58 pm (UTC)The first two were great and I tore through them. I'm having a lot of trouble getting into this one. I'm 160 pages into it and all you know is a guy supposedly died 8 years ago; but has been seen alive; there's a cult, a psychopath, and a lot of big politicians involved. It doesn't help that the hero isn't really engaging or likable. I keep thinking "whiner", "pussy", and "Oh, look, a whole new level of stupidity."
There was just a scene where the wind rattles a chain link fence and he goes running in a panic to get inside his house, where his pet bird makes him feel safe.
I have a feeling this is one of those books where the entire plot is revealed in the last 20 pages.
