... about that link to what Sam and Dean really wear.
-- If Sam and Dean are going to invest in anything, a couple hundred dollars on a pair of a good durable boots seems like a real priority from two guys raised by a Marine. You know how long cheap boots last? Not long, that's for damn sure.
-- Speaking as someone who goes to the Salvation Army all the time, it really isn't outside the realm of possibility for them to go in there and find a brand-new pair of never-worn eighty-dollar designer jeans from the Gap for sale. No, really, even in the guys' section. Sure, you have to dig through twenty pairs of jeans you could pitch and hold a circus under and another twenty pairs that went out of style in 1976 and another twenty pairs stained with paint or oil or worse, but having gone through the guys' section for shirts and hoodies guys are just as guilty as women of buying something new, stuffing them in a drawer and completely forgetting they exist.
-- We are remembering it's not their money, right? So even if they were buying them new,the guy whose credit card they're using they can certainly afford it.
-- Dean might not normally shop in a Gap or a Nordstrom's, but then again the salesgirls in my Gap and Nordstrom's are REALLY hot.
-- Considering how freaking big Sam is, I can only imagine it's the exact opposite (and the exact same) as me buying any pair of jeans I see that fit me without having two or three inches of extra denim hanging past my ankles, even if I don't have enough money to waste on them, just because they're there. Seriously, if I were in a store with my rent money, my car payment, and the money I needed to go to Wincon and I saw a rack of 6/7 flared jeans that ended exactly where they're supposed to ... well, I wouldn't be going to LA or have a roof over my head, that's for damn sure.

My favorite pair of Luckys is from Goodwill. Got them for $6.99.
I also once scored a NWT pair of $200 (authenticated later) designer jeans for $20 at a Buffalo Exchange.

Date: 2007-07-13 12:24 am (UTC)Seriously, I've bought much better stuff at the Salvation Army than I've bought at Wal-Mart and Target. Wal-Mart clothes are cheaper than dirt but as durable as a newspaper in a rainstorm. I've bought perfect never-worn American Eagle cargo pants that had to have been fifty bucks for five at the Salvation Army.

Date: 2007-07-13 12:29 am (UTC)On the other hand, were they to suddenly mention wearing clothes from Nordstrom on the show, I can totally understand exactly where they got them -- buried in the racks at Goodwill. Those clothes do have to come from somewhere, after all, and it's not always your grandmother's attic. :)

A lifetime's practice of digging through Goodwill racks totally prepares one to find $200 designer jeans for ten bucks. Duh. :)
