Good news: My laptop's back!
Bad news: The keyboard and touchpad aren't working!

*headdesk*

Please tell me this is something I can fix on my own, those of you who know anything about computers, but if it isn't and if HP fucked it up I'm going to make a customer service rep burst into big fat tears.

In wank-related news has LJ posted a statement of their side of the story yet? Because as much as they bungled the handling of this whole thing, it seems annoyingly premature to be running around all, "The sky is falling, the sky is falling!" when what's falling from the sky may or may not be someone else's questionable content, locked or not.

I mean, they can delete whoever they want without warning. Says so in the TOS. Doesn't stop it from being a really crappy thing to do.

The problem is that if they don't actually update their TOS - last I saw, when someone mentioned it in the news post, it was dated April 18, 2007 - and merely TALK about how they're going to be suspending journals for questionable content, whether what they're doing is within their legal right or not, it is a) shitty business practise, and b) according to an article on computerworld, illegal according to a judge who ruled that you cannot change online contracts to the disadvantage of the customer without warning.

They have every right to have the content they WANT on their servers, and if they drive all of HP fandom away, they'll get that, for a time, until other fandoms come to crusaders' notice. But they do NOT have the right to banninate and suspend without a) following their own stated terms of service and b) posting the new rules, not merely "clarifications".
