Oh, man, the next time the woman who works with me offers me something for my toothache, I'm going to say, "Oh, hell, no."

If last night wasn't officially a sign that Vicodin makes me puke endlessly, then I don't know what the hell it was. Which sucks, because it's the only painkiller I've ever taken that actually kills my pain without me having to take half of the bottle at once. Dude, I don't even get it. I have a really low tolerance for alcohol and a ridiculously high tolerance for drugs. I'd rather sip a Smirnoff to numb a toothache because the other option is practically taking a heaping handful of whichever drugs are available. It's just weird. I'm teeny, for crying out loud. I should not need goddamn horse tranquilizers to knock me out.

In other news, wait, THAT'S an official statement? Man, I finally found something that makes me like burr86's mocking comments at efw. At least I understood where they were coming from -- I mean, hell, it's gotta suck to be him right now, and everybody's got to vent. But ... but, NO. Pro-ana comms as support groups? Bitch, please. A real support group for anorexics helps them GAIN weight, not lose it. Thanks for playing, please try again. *eye roll*

Seriously, is everybody at LJ trying to get themselves fired and/or sued? Because if I was a mom with a teenage daughter and she died dued to advice given on a pro-ana comm, I'd sue Livejournal so fast they'd all get whiplash. (Granted, I'm not sure how plausible a case would be, but STILL.)

You know, in some ways it's morbidly amusing watching LJ dig themselves a hole deep enough to bury themselves in. Hmm.

IAWTC- I think they were still facing major liability issues with the fandom, of course, but the fact that they don't ban these pro-ana communities that actually advocate self harm? That's asking for it. You don't put bomb-making plans on the internet, you don't put plans for turning a teenage girl into a health-time-bomb on LJ. That's that.

They're not facing liability with fandom as much as it might appear on the face.

Fair Use is violated when canon or variation of such is turned into adult erotica, because it could be a case made that adult erotica of the characters is damaging to the original copyright.

Nor are they likely facing libel, because it'll be difficult to prove LJ/6A intended malice toward the two artists who they nuked.

Pro-ana, though? Logically:

If assisted suicide is not illegal, then Dr. Kevorkian and all like him should not be in jail. [But they are.]

If assisted suicide is illegal, then pro-ana qualifies as assisted suicide.

If pro-ana qualifies as assisted suicide, then it is illegal.

If pro-ana is illegal, LJ/6A should be nuking only those journals that suggest anorexia is a lifestyle rather than a disorder, and those journals that encourage not-eating rather than recovery.

Having dealt with people with various degrees of anorexia and continually resenting this size-zero culture we have, my immediate reaction was to paste the idiots a couple of times.

Comments were too damn full though. So I posted it to a previosu entry.

I don't think hot wings were the best choice. Spicy food is hard on the stomach without vicodin to compound it.

The BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast) should be your guidepost when eating something in preparation for taking meds that upset your stomach. Avoid spicy, acidic, hard to digest, and dairy foods.

Are you allergic to morphine? Or even codeine? Lots of the stronger painkillers have those in them, and it's a pretty common allergy.

Codeine, no. Morphine ... hell if I know. I've never had an injury strong enough to warrant anything stronger than Advil.

Have you tried Ultram/Tramadol? Tramadol is pretty much the only drug that works on my pain without knocking me into next week or causing unpleasant side effects.
