1. Premieres of my shows are this week! *squeals*

2. I need to go into the spare room and clear out all the crap. That includes taking down the string light hooks on the walls, taking out what few pieces of furniture are in there, and finding a place to stick the old carpet that's in there now. The first thing I'm going to do when I have the cash to start working on the redecorating (overtime, ho!) is putting in a new damn carpet. And I'm going to keep the damn bathroom closed so the cat doesn't go tramping cat litter into the room.

2a. Speaking of redecorating the spare room, I have the insane urge to save up and buy a flatscreen for it. Well, Christmas IS rolling around. It's not like the damn things won't be on sale. (I suppose I could ask my parents for it, but I think I'd feel guilty asking for something that expensive.)

3. I can't believe I have to go to work tomorrow night. It feels like I didn't even get a weekend. *sigh*

4. I've been watching the Ugly Betty marathon on and off today, and you know what I want for this season? I want Alexis to find a guy or girl who wants her for HER. Who's not using her, who's not dating her as a joke, who knows she used to be a guy and thinks that her becoming a woman is awesome.

5. I'm antsy about the whole college thing right now. I'm not so much worried about paying for it right now -- it's only going to be a few hundred bucks for a couple of classes, so even if I can't get financial aid or tuition reimbursment at work, I should still be able to cover it -- as I am that the admissions office will take one look at my college transcripts and laugh at me. What? I'm being paranoid, okay? I know this will in all likelihood end up with me making an LJ post saying, "Homg, I'm a college student again! *flailyhands*," but since nearly everything I've done in the past few years has ended pretty badly, my hopes are, as usual, pretty freaking low.

6. The newest Project Runway contestant is named Sweet P? *chokegiggles*

7. Oh, goody, looks like Heroes wank is on clairvoyant_wank and headed straight for FW. I feel weird about the whole Kristen Bell thing. I mean, I like her fine. She's not a dreadful actress or anything. And from what I've read from the role, it's really not any more or less connected to the Heroes than anybody else.

I just ... *sigh* Okay, here's the thing. My mom does this thing where she suggests I do things over and over and OVER again. Like, when I say I want a new job, she always says, "Oh, why don't you try that factory you used to work at?" Never mind that I hated working there, and that it made me sick. Okay, I could try for an office job there, but at the same time, the more she mentions it to me and throws it in my face, the more I want to avoid it like the plague and go work for McDonald's or something instead just to spite her.

See what I'm getting at?

I mean, there are other new characters coming onto the show. David Anders is going to be Hiro's mentor. Nichelle Nichols is going to be on. There's a pair of Hispanic fraternal twin characters who are coming onto the show who look really interesting. But who are we hearing about? Kristen, Kristen, Kristen, over and over and OVER again. I don't think she's a publicity whore like the wankers are claiming. But it really irritates that once again the hot young blonde is getting all the attention, because it's not exactly like it's the first time it's happened in the Heroes advertising campaigns. And it's really making me sick and tired of seeing her at all, so I'm coming into her entrance on the show saddled with a bias against her, which bugs the pants off me.

see, i haven't really heard much about her being on Heroes. there was the initial news of it (through people LJ) and then those photos of Kristen and Hayden out jogging together, and then Kristen sitting next to Masi at the Emmy's and that's it. That's all I've heard.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say it was all a series of coincidences and she wasn't really on the show at all!

But..well, she is. (I had also heard that Lost wanted her too. Not sure how true that one is)

I still need to watch the finale. OOH. That's what me and my mom will do tonight.

To be fair, there's a big "reveal" about Anders' character they don't want to scream about right now, and the other new regulars aren't name actors. I'll freely agree that Heroes has way too many blondes, but that sure isn't Bell's fault.

True, but a lot of these people weren't name actors to start out and they freely advertised the hell of them last season. Pulse tanked and Veronica Mars barely had an audience -- when most people look at the cover with Ali, Hayden, and Kristen, they have no clue who that third girl is. Considering what I've read of the other actors, they do have names, they just don't have them in the same crowd that watched Veronica Mars. The actor portraying the brother in the set of twins appears to be a name in Hispanic entertainment, not to mention REALLY hot. Where's the ad with him in it?

I totally understand why they're not advertising David Anders. But Nichelle Nichols' character isn't a particularly huge surprise, really -- they can certainly advertise her without going into great detail about who she is.

It just really bothers me that they're bringing on a lot of new characters, but we're only hearing about this one because, "OMG, look at our casting coup! *squee*" The fact that Kristen has the biggest name is no excuse to ignore the others, especially considering the show's strongest point is that it's an ensemble cast and that every character is important to the mythology.

Not mention the fact that having a trio of white blondes on the cover of the TV Guide doesn't represent the diversity that Heroes is known for. The cover I see says, "Hey look at these random, hot blonde chicks!" Why does Mikki rate a cover? She's not even that popular. They should have had Masi, Milo (as they are the two most well-known current characters) and any one of the new characters representing Heroes.

I can't see why they put Kristen on the cover as she is only popular with cult TV fans. Heroes is NOT a cult show, and she isn't going to draw in a mainstream audience.

Seconded. I adore the fact that it's a multiracial, multicultural cast, since it lends a sense of realism to the proceedings. I like knowing that the writers understand that if you're going to make new superpowers a global problem, or even a strictly American problem, you still have to understand that the world is made up of people of every shape, size, and color.

And seriously, this isn't the writers' faults, or the actors' faults. Someone in charge of advertising the show is hauling out Kristen (usually grouped with Ali and Hayden) without realizing:

a.) People in VM's very small audience, Hollywood, and critics' circles are the only people who know who the hell Kristen Bell is.
b.) When you put three pretty blonde girls on a magazine cover, who are you trying to reach? Straight guys. And trust me, straight guys are watching Heroes already. Really.
c.) The audience for Veronica Mars loved it to pieces and was loyal as hell, but was also small enough to collectively fit comfortably into your average overhead compartment.

I can't see why they put Kristen on the cover as she is only popular with cult TV fans. Heroes is NOT a cult show, and she isn't going to draw in a mainstream audience.

Exactly. The audiences for Veronica Mars and Heroes don't intersect quite THAT much.

The thing is, I'm not saying that Kristen doesn't deserve the attention that the advertising will lead to. My problem is, why does she deserve it over all of the other new characters they're bringing in? Heroes has always been more about making names out of actors who don't have them than it's ever been about flashing around the big-name stars that do show up.

That would have been nice. Or they could have done a whole set, like they did last year, with one big name (Masi, Milo, Hayden) in the center, a slightly smaller name (Sendhil, Adrian, Ali) on one side, and a new name (Dania, David, Dana, Kristen) on the other.

I live my days strangely sequestered from direct media exposure- I get to everything through a filter of message boards, fandom news aggregations, and RSS feeds. So it takes a helluva lot to make me angry at someone's overexposure, and I guess Bell hasn't hit that point yet. But I thoroughly get why you're aggravated; I'm just glad you're not blaming Bell herself, which is what has sent me into a rage these past few days.

It's the marketing ploy we're all familiar with, I suppose. The cute blonde ones get the cover. I guess I should stop being surprised at this point, eh?

Ahaha, were you watching the Ugly Betty marathon today? Me, too! ;)

Yeah, you and me both. I mean, I already know about Kristen. I want to know about everybody else. All I have are what IMDb tells me, damn it -- interview them! They must be thrilled! If I were on Heroes, I know I'd be. :)

And Dania Ramirez is just as hot. (If not hotter. Hi, my bisexual brain parts like brunette girls. *swoons*)

Oh, man, YES. It's funny, 'cause last night at work I said to somebody, "I'm going to go home and curl up in bed and watch the first TV show marathon I can find." Ugly Betty marathon! SCORE. \o/

Just what I needed -- reminders of why I love Justin and Betty and Hilda (my current favorite TV mom) and Henry and Alexis and Daniel and Claire and Wilhelmina and Marc and Amanda and ... *hyperventilates* Okay, fine, EVERYBODY.

What has Dania Ramirez been in? The name sounds familiar.

I know! I was just thinking to myself, "I need to catch up on Ugly Betty before it comes back on" and lo! It was like a gift from the gods.

I also think it would be lovely if Alexis found somebody. :) (I've also wondered what Alexis's relationships were like when he was Alex. I mean, he canonically dated girls when he was still a guy, and YET...)

From what I can tell, her three biggest roles seem to be Blanca on The Sopranos, Callisto in X3, and one of the Potentials in the last season on Buffy. Pretty! (Okay, I also can't look at that picture without thinking, "Micah! Get away from the serial killer!" and "Ando! *swoon*" Heh.)

I so forgot how much I missed the gang at Mode. And how giddy I got when Marc hugged Wilhelmina. And how hard I cry every time I watch Betty tell Hilda about Santos in the finale.

I really wouldn't mind if Rebecca Gayheart's character came back at ALL. She was lovely, and sensible, and adventurous, and apparently had no problem with Alex being Alexis now. :) Alexis needs someone to like her for once, damn it. (I'd think the dating-girls thing was the same sort of cover that playing football in the park with Bradford would have been, but I'm betting on bi myself.)

<>But who are we hearing about?

See? That's my attitude towards the new characters in Supernatural. The show is about the Winchester brothers but who gets shoved into our faces all the time these days? The girls! X(

Yeah, that's kind of one of my huge roadblocks to getting into this show, which I am attempting to get over to (again) try and watch it soon.
