I think I'm going to stop doing NaNo.
Nov. 9th, 2007 08:34 pmNo, wait, this is a good thing.
I'm not going to stop working on the novel I'm currently working on. That's not a problem. But with all the things I've got stressing me out right now -- work, money, college, etc. -- giving myself something else to make me worry is so not a good idea, and with my work schedule the way it is and the amount of overtime I'm going to have to take between now and Christmas trying to cram in writing like crazy is just not going to work. It especially isn't going to work for me this year with this stupid writer's block on my shoulders.
The thing is, I think what I need to do is something a bit like
mini_nanowrimo, except more like just get in the habit of working on writing every day first and then try for writing a little bit every day again. I mean, when I'm sitting in my butterfly chair with the laptop in the morning and the next thing I know it's midnight and I've been alternately refreshing my friends list, checking my email, and playing Alchemy all day long that's not good.
I think at this point I need to take it one step at a time rather than diving headfirst into the deep end of the pool.
... of course, now I just need my internet to stop cutting in and out. *growls*
