Is it wrong for me to say I think I already love Heath Ledger's Joker more than I ever liked Jack Nicholson's? I mean, that right there? Looks fucked UP. He looks insane, and Lord knows he's got the chops to ACT fucking out of his gourd, not to mention the smile. I just ... ever since they cast him, every time people would cast doubts on the casting I would think of that scene in 10 Things I Hate About You where he's leaning against the lockers weaseling more money to date Julia Stiles out of the asshat, and he just grins that really big wiiiiiide grin, and if he lives up to half of my hopes for this I will CLIMB HIM LIKE A FUCKING TREE.

EDIT: And in the realm of things making me laugh like an idiot, this line from the IMDb trivia section for Batman Begins:

David S. Goyer mentioned in an interview that his favorite pre-audition choice for Batman was Jake Gyllenhaal, but that he was won over by Christian Bale after seeing his test.

Oh, MAN, the fic that would have come out of this sequel. BWAHAHAHAHA.

I know, right? I kept thinking, "What Jack Nicholson needed makeup for, Heath's already got." HEEEE. :)

And he looks so fucking NUTS, you know? There's nothing cartoonish about that. I'm trying not to let my hopes get too high just in case but in the makeup and with the way he's acting in the trailer, he looks like a freakin' creepy escaped mental patient. I dig this look SO HARD (although not in that way 'cause, EW.).

Oh dude YES! He looks completely, pardon the pun, batshit insane. I mean, Nicholson was good but he was good in a cartoonish, "Look how eccentrically crazy I am," way. Heath actually looks good in a, "Mother of God, get him away from me!" way.

What was wrong with the first movie? Only Katie Holmes.

What did they do with this movie? They replaced her with Maggie fuckin' Gyllenhaal and brought in Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart. WINNER.

(I have this mental image of Heath occasionally leaning over and saying to Maggie, "I made out with your brother," just to get her to make the EW face. Heh.)

To be fair, they cast Katie Holmes before she went kinda crazy. But I do think that Maggie Gyllenhall has this emotional maturity thing that makes it believable that she's an assistant DA.

True, but even without the crazy she still wasn't as good as everybody else in it. Which isn't saying much when you're in a movie with Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, Cillian Murphy, and Ken Watanabe, but still.

But, yeah, I can believe Maggie Gyllenhaal as an assistant DA. I can believe her as almost anything and would watch read out of the phone book for two hours, so. *shrugs*

I'm not that big a fan of Nicholson as the joker, but I LOVE what Nolan, Goyer et al are doing with the Batman franchise. And thus I've always supported their decision to cast Heath Ledger.

And that trailer, right there? Completely validates that position. FUCKIN' A, man :D
