Did I ever mention I didn't go to my prom? I didn't have a boyfriend at the time and I was feeling particularly antisocial, and my reaction to prom was, "Yeah, not so much." Take away the drinking and I had Chris's prom night. So, yeah, Christian being all snarky and jokingly saying, "This is the most important night of my life"? I have to laugh at that, because ... well.

I adored Chris in this episode, for the record. I just love how he reacted to the news that the girls had picked their designers according to their portfolios and his just being like, "Dude, what the hell is wrong with the girl who picked ME?" Heeeeeee. I love Chris's portfolio. It makes me happy just knowing it exists.

While I think Christian maybe shouldn't have been all, "She was really ... uh, outspoken," on the runway, I do think the judges were really harsh on him considering the way that girl was behaving. Honestly, she made me miss Morganza and that's saying something. Have I also mentioned that I really, really hate teenage girls? 'Cause that was definitely not helping me not want to reach through my TV screen and shake some sense into her. And I did think it was telling that no one was savoring that fact that Christian was suffering -- I do get the impression that while he's an annoying loudmouth, he's a harmless one and everyone knows it. I'm more bothered by Victorya's passive-aggresiveness and Ricky's constant weeping. (And can't you already see the vid from the reunion show coming a while away of every instance of Christian saying "ferosh" or "fierce" or "hot" or "star"?)

Victorya's was my favorite, though. Very pretty.

I'll miss Kevin. But not his prom picture, which is not helping with that resemblance to Joey Fatone and the constant feeling that I could swear I saw him in a boyband once.

Actually, I thought Chris was robbed - that dress was so much better than "safe".

I want to see a collection he'd present SO BADLY. Because if he made it that far I could see him totally putting a lot of work into making it look really fabulous and gorgeous, yet still having a sense of that wild out-there guy we know he's got in him.

Yeah, I was going to be seriously pissed off if Christian got booted because of that girl, because ...what? She was horrible! I kind of wanted one of the other contestants on the runway to say, um, yes, he really got a lousy draw because I assume the judges may not get to see what goes on in the work room so much (maybe they do, but I would think probably no), and they may well have thought he was being all dramatic when actually I thought he was being Quite Restrained about her, just saying she was really outspoken.

Also, Ricky, stop weeping. That's a drinking game all by itself, which is just wrong.

Also, Victorya is annoying beyond words and I want her to go gone, and now she CAN'T next week, which irritates me, and I think the judges have no idea what passes as a prom dress these days if they thought Rami's was too old, as it seems to me I have seen some seriously alarmingly 17-going-on-35 prom dresses in recent years.

I love all things green, so I thought Rami's was beautiful (and, yes, I think Rami is also beautiful, given that I have eyes and all), but it didn't read like a prom dress to me, and it was a tad drapy.

Victorya thinks all women should look like models - tall and slender with no curves. Her client/model, by an amazing stroke of luck, had that sort of body. Sweet P designed for a real girl, as did Chris. Wouldn't either of those dresses look wonderful on the dance floor?

I just keep thinking to her saying that thing to Ricky about how, "I like things to be flat," during the trendsetter challenge. And ... what, seriously? Flat? Good luck with that.

I also keep thinking about her Bitten dress, which I made a point of looking for at the local Steve and Barry's. And that design could have looked really great on the runway, but on the rack it looked tacky and like maternity wear.

Oh, I agree it looked grown up; it's just that ...well, given what some of the eleven year old girls wore to my kid's FIFTH GRADE graduation (evening wear, makeup, hair and nails done...) a few years ago, and what I see around town during prom season, I don't think there is actually all that much of a line any more between prom dress and adult probably short but formalish dress, you know?

(and yes, I was totally horrified by the fifth graders; I believe some of them probably spent more time at the stylist for that event than I have, in sum, in my life. Thankfully, for the second kid's event the school had wised up and actually said NOT to wear that sort of thing because WHAT?)

And yes, I thought Sweet P was robbed too, because she took a request she couldn't live with (ivory) and fooled with it just an ooch to make it something she was okay with and so was her girl, and her dress was way prettier for a regular person anyway. But also, I just don't want Victorya to have immunity, and have nearly been actively rooting for her to get booted (which is a bit out of character for me) since the team thing in which she passive-aggressived all over the place and forced people into untenable positions for which they got held responsible. Ick.

I thought the judges were appalling last night...and wasn't entirely sure what they were looking for. It felt like they wanted 17 year old girls to be something between cute and slutty with a healthy helping of glitz...I don't know. Just felt like Nina being completely intimidated by young women being beautiful or glamorous and not wearing magenta.

Which isn't to say I didn't like the brighter dresses: I appreciated Kit and Victoryas dresses - I thought they were creative and pretty. But as someone who's only four years -ish past my own prom, I thought Sweet Pea and Rami's dresses were the standouts. I felt like Sweet Pea was robbed, honestly - although maybe it's my violent hatred for Victorya's passive aggressiveness, but honestly I thought that SP's dress was amazing. I thought both were beautiful, curve-accentuating, and unusually glamorous -- not the usual strappy dresses with no shape that girls get for prom. I guess I want to feel like a star at a formal event, myself. When else are you going to? At the Oscars? Unlikely.

I guess my problem with the challenge was that if I hired a couture designer I would want a couture dress. Like Rami said, "everything I DO is sophisticated." Exactly. You don't hire a runway designer to get something you could buy from Cache or David's Bridal or BCBG.

Dunno. /surplus of opinion.
Also, Christian is adorable and that girl was criz-azy. He shouldn't have flubbed like that on the runway, but he's such a harmless queeny bitch and I want him and Kit to run away together and start a fantastic couture line.

I simultaneously love and hate the real people challenges. I like that they're forcing the designers to think, but I really wish they didn't call the models out to the runway. Every time, you have a woman or a girl who is like, "I love this outfit!" and clearly feels awesome and sexy about her curvy, real-woman body in whatever has been made,

and then Michael or Nina says something like, "It looks a little boring" or "it's a little Julia Roberts in Pretty Women. When she was a hooker.." and Heidi chimes in with "I don't know, it just doesn't look EXPENSIVE"

and then you know the poor girl is standing there in this dress made especially for her that she just loved, going, "Wow, I look like a cheap, boring, whore."

Agreed. Victoriya's was this ugly sack dress of a poor length with a bubble bottom and a vomit of gaudy rhinestones down the front. I can't believe it won - it shouldn't have even been in the top three!

Sweet Pea and Chris were both robbed. Those were exquisite evening gowns, and very sophisticated.

Dear Project Runway Judges,

You are on crack. Seriously, hasn't Queen Passive Aggressive already done that neckline? And seriously, it looks like she made a sack and then BEDAZZLED it. Christ, I know 17 year olds. I have an 18 year old cousin, who I think is adorable, and who I know would take one look at that dress and laugh her ass off, but would be utterly gleefully psyched to wear Sweet P or Chris's dresses.


Also, Christian did the best he could with what he had to work with. She wanted lace. She wanted gold. She wanted spangles and sparkles and to design her own damn dress, and she chose CHRISTIAN of all people to work with - so not a good mesh. His dress was actually very pretty and fairly restrained, given that crazy girl's initial demands.

it annoyed me how much they talked about what a 17 year old should dress like and wear to a prom - as if they were in that age range anymore! The whole point of Prom in my school WAS to wear the extremely elegant dresses. Some girls looked like they were in a wedding dress.
