Dear Flying Spaghetti Monster,

I still want to vomit again, so if it's not too much trouble, do you think you could use your noodly appendage to make sure that I get asked if I'd like a layoff when I come in this week? I'm next on the list after Jess and it's a short work week, so I'll make about the same from unemployment as I would if I were working. Pretty please? I'll spend all week writing, I swear. Witches' honor and everything.

Sincerely,

Me

Dear new story idea,

You're small but clever. Please do me the favor of not sucking after you've grown a bit.

Sincerely,

Me

Dear other new story idea,

The longer I think about you, the darker you get. And you're developing a theme. When the hell did my bullshit entertainment start growing themes?

Sincerely,

Me

Sorry you're still feeling punky *bunnyhugs*

I woke up to my downstairs neighbor's kid screaming bloody murder.

Hope you feel better :)

I fricking hate it when that happens. The sickness and the story things. *skritch*

Don't you hate that? "Okay, so Jared is a detective on the rise and Jensen is the jewel thief that he can't keep his hands off of...when the hell did I start talking about imperialism?"

I feel like an idiot sometimes, because I'm all, 'I just write stories! That's all! There's no depth intended, really! They're just supposed to be fun" and the thing is that I've spent so many years in fandom by now that I can see exactly where someone could write a thesis on the Books of Boggs being an intricate drawn-out metaphor for people in their twenties who didn't go to college after high school for whatever reason and are now sitting around waiting for their real lives to begin while opportunity jumps out at them all the time from the shadows.

I think that all writers do that, on some level. It's just the list of things that you're fascinated by bubbling up to the surface. (Even in a PWP, after all, you're advertising the things that you think are sexy.)
