True, but he is going to be just a personality on the Bravo awards from the looks of the commercials.
I don't know ... I'm torn on them having to choose between being designers and being personalities. I like it when they realize that the audience knows them as personalities, but they'd better be designing something to back it up. I'm a little disappointed with former contestants like Jay, who I've only seen showing up as a personality, and Chloe, who just went back home to do the same thing she was doing before. (Not that I don't like it, but ... you know, I like you, Chloe, come back! :))
Christian's appearance on Ugly Betty was stunt casting, but it really was a great bit of stunt casting that showed he had a good sense of humor and could make fun of himself. For a really young guy who's getting his very first collection out there that's exactly the audience he should be interacting with. Meanwhile, he also did Make Me A Supermodel where he designed a dress for Holly and gave them probably the best pointers they'd gotten all season for their catwalks. He's showing he can design, he can work with models, and he's still a personality.
Jeffrey, on the other hand, is an established designer already selling to rock stars. PR gave him a boost but his designing for SIUaD isn't going to give him the same sort of help it's going to give Christian.
I will give Bravo credit, though. When you win one of their shows, or even if you're just a fan favorite, they'll haul you out and show you off every chance they get.
