Dear Starbucks, Borders, McDonald's, and every other restaurant/cafe in the area that offers Wi-Fi you have to pay for,

It's stories like this that are the reason I'm more apt to just go to Panera or walk to the gas station cafe down the street, both of which offer me Wi-Fi for free and feed me a good meal at the same time, another thing not one of you can claim. It's also why Panera's always crowded with people with laptops and I've yet to see more than one or two people with laptops at any of your damn places of business.

Sincerely,

Me

Also, this is my new favorite picture of the Obamas.

It's new in the States? Wow. I think it's standard here - and 'free' (as in, buy a coffee beforehand).

Fuck Starbucks. They couldn't make a decent cup of coffee if you stood over them telling them how to do it.

Cool pic though.

Eh, I usually get chai lattes when I'm there anyway, but hell, if I've just got my Fly pen and my notebook I'd rather just go to Dunkin Donuts and get an extra-large Milky Way hot chocolate. Their chairs aren't as comfy but they're certainly cheaper.

Stupid Starbucks! Ugh.

I love Panera too for that same reason :)

Oh, I adore my Panera. The food's good, the people who work there are awesome, the Wi-Fi's free and there's lots of comfy seating. If it had a bookstore attached, it'd be heaven. :)

It really would be heaven with a bookstore! :)

They're building a new Panera in my town. I hope they build it fast!!

Oh, my God, if they built a Panera in my hometown I would die happy. Then again, if they would build anything in this stupid town I'd be happy -- the last new store we got was a Dollar General, which ... meh.

I'm happy with the cafe we do have here, though. It's no Panera, but it's like having a cheaper one within walking distance, which is a good thing considering the gas prices.

I hear you on the gas prices thing. It's keeping us close to home certainly.

I am SO excited about our new Panera. They just poured foundation. I just want it NOW! XD

The Panera in my town is directly adjacent to the Barnes & Noble. This area is highly dangerous for my wallet.

Oh, man, I wish our Barnes and Noble was closer. We have a Borders in Scranton (thirty minutes away) but a Barnes and Noble in Wilkes-Barre (fifty minutes away). It's soooo much nicer than the Borders but it's not worth the splurge on gas just to go except every once in a while.

I've seen that photo from three or four angles now and it keeps getting cuter.

My local Panera has the tables nearest the outlets also nearest the fireplace. I love it there.

Oh, yeah, those are my seats too. They have one little table on either side of it and if the one facing the door is taken I jump on the one in the main dining room.

Yeah, that's why I tend to stick to the library for most of my stuff away from the house. No cost there...and quiet.

I can't write without music and food, though. Otherwise I'd practically live in the local library.

We do have a Paradise Cafe chain here that offers free wi-fi, but it's only been in business...um, a year? And before that it was pay B&N or go WITHOUT. *sigh* Utah is SO BEHIND THE TIMES, srsly
