Spotted on IMDb ...

Jennifer Garner was almost sent into a panic during a shopping trip on Thursday, when she accidentally locked her two-year-old daughter in the car with her keys.

The Elektra star had just arrived at the Brentwood Country Mart in California when she climbed out of her Lexus without her car keys and closed the door behind her - forgetting the car doors had been set to auto-lock, according to celebrity blogger PerezHilton.com.

But Garner was able to breathe a sigh of relief when she was able to instruct clever Violet - her daughter with husband Ben Affleck - how to open the doors, freeing herself from the vehicle within minutes.

The tot emerged triumphant, clutching the car keys as she smiled at a delighted Garner, before mother and daughter continued with their girls' day out.

AWWWWWW. Can't you just picture that? Her freaking out and that cute little girl doing everything she says? (Seriously, Violet Affleck is so damn cute. But then again with parents like that ... ;))

I love that Garner was actually smart enough to tell her daughter to open the door, rather than calling the police or trying to pick the locks or something equally dumb.

(and omfg that little girl is so darling.)

Bwah! I'm afraid of my mother seeing this one -- she has a similar story from when I was 18 months old, except involves me laughing and laughing at her as she frantically tried to get me to pull up the button. She eventually had to get some guy to break in with a coat hanger.

That really is freakin' adorable, and yes, Violet (I love her name!) Affleck is one cute celebrity kid. Actually, they're all just a cute little family and strike me as very down-to-earth, which isn't a description that often occurs to me in connection with celeb families.

Hope Violet doesn't try her new trick when the car is MOVING. ;)

I saw that story somewhere yesterday and was reminded of the time I had the same problem, only my kid was younger, and was probably all of a week or two away from having the capacity to work out what I needed him to do. Alas.

Happily, I was at a truck stop at the time, and when I went inside to explain my problem, about 14 guys immediately leaped out of their seats to go be a hero. Heh.

Ahahahaha. One of my friends totally did that a couple months ago. Well the kid was older, but same idea.
