Oh, my God, Wall-E was SO FREAKING GOOD.

It's funny and smart and it does so much for good chunks of the movie with very little dialogue that are just amazing. And it's pretty and PRETTY and the visuals are so very stunning, and there's so many things that probably shouldn't be beautiful but are, like the skyscrapers of garbage or Wall-E's shelves of things he's saved (which are striking and gorgeous in their lovely eclectic clutter/order.) And I love that the humans in space have grown fat and lazy, but it's not that they're stupid or mean, it's just all they know to stay in their hoverchairs and drink their cupcakes in a cup and watch their virtual games.

Oh, oh, and you know what I loved best? That the credits at the end, after the humans have come back to Earth, tell the story of how they learn how not to be lazy and dependent and learn how to get up off their asses and be self-sufficient and how to grow things and fish and stuff, BUT they do it in historically progressing forms of art. Like, they start out with animation in the style of cave paintings, then Egyptian hieroglyphics, and Greek mosaics and woodcuts and Impressionist and all the way down the line. It was just this little detail to it that I adored.

Also, I went to the bar with my buddies tonight and it was the best time I've had with them in a long time.

Fuck being broke, you guys, 'cause that was a blast.

Oh god, WALL-E is 99.99999% pure love. I even almost loved the damned cockroach. And YES the credits were amazing. But I think my favorite thing is how he makes almost every person and robot go :D as soon as they meet him. That receptionist bot that is at first confused by him waving goodbye, but on their way out is all *WAVES MADLY WHEEEE* asjfkjsfdlk I love it so.

There was a very loud, very little kid behind us who was all "D: D: D: MOMMY, what happened to him???" towards the end, but even that couldn't detract from my experience. (In a way, he helped me avoid becoming a blubbering mess, because his mom going "Shh! She'll fix him!" was exactly what I needed to hear, too. THANK YOU, RANDOM MOM!)

Agreed! I saw it tonight and the movie was so much awesome! I don't know what your theatre was like, but we were all on the edge of our seats and at the end, the entire theatre was totally silent. It just brought the whole audience together on every laugh, sigh, and adoring 'aww.' Best movie-going experience I've had in a while and I'd see it again in a heartbeat!

I totally spoiled myself for the ending because I really had to know whether WALL•E died and whether I would bawl like a little girl who's been told no, you can't have a pony, not yours. And yet I bawled anyway. Even though I knew EVE would fix WALL•E, just seeing her upset because he didn't remember her and was starting to compact all his prized possessions...that was it, man, I was gone. I'M GETTING ALL WIBBLY JUST TYPING ABOUT IT NOW. Dear god, what an amazing movie.

Oh, man, YES. I almost cried there, and when he gave her the plant and she shut down and he just ... he took such good care of her. AWWWW.

It was a blast, indeed- I saw it last night, myself. I can't even pick out a favorite part- it was all good!

Awesome. Happy for you that you decided to do both movie and bar. You needed the fun! Broke can always be dealt with, but it goes easier when you've had 'you' time...or in this case 'them' time.

Best movie I've seen in years, and I'm really surprised I refrained from bawling my eyes out. Came close a couple of times.

And the re-telling of the movie in 8-Bit Theater style during the end credits? GENIUS.

I'm not sure which I loved more: WALL-E, or the short before it. :X

I saw Wall-E today and I too LOVED it. I was practically wriggling with glee! It was so precious and funny, and at the same time this incisive yet sensitive commentary on people, and what we can become if we allow ourselves to, and yet too what we can accomplish if we set our minds to it. And oh, WALL-E. My heaaaart. *flaps*

Wasn't that the BEST?! In any other movie they would have chosen the easy way out and been like, "No, we like this way much better," but once the vid screens are off or they start seeing how beautiful Earth really is, they're all, "Oh, WOW, what the hell am I doing with my life when I could have THAT instead?!"

Just watching the captain become thrilled at the thought of farming is just ... wow. Wow.

I know I personally took home the message that I need to pay attention to more than what's on my computer screen.

Can you imagine being so preoccupied with a monitor that you missed that the Axiom had a pool? A GIANT MOTHERFUCKING POOL THAT WAS EASILY A QUARTER-MILE ACROSS AND INTRICATELY DESIGNED? "I didn't know we had a pool!" was probably one of the most heartbreaking lines in the movie, hilarious though it was.

Honestly? The credits were very nearly my favorite part; for exactly the reasons you state. I wasn't feeling a lot of hope for the Future Humans when they stumbled off the Axiom. I needed to know that they were going to thrive--alongside robots as equals, no less! WALL*E is so much win.
