Oh, my God, Wall-E was SO FREAKING GOOD.

It's funny and smart and it does so much for good chunks of the movie with very little dialogue that are just amazing. And it's pretty and PRETTY and the visuals are so very stunning, and there's so many things that probably shouldn't be beautiful but are, like the skyscrapers of garbage or Wall-E's shelves of things he's saved (which are striking and gorgeous in their lovely eclectic clutter/order.) And I love that the humans in space have grown fat and lazy, but it's not that they're stupid or mean, it's just all they know to stay in their hoverchairs and drink their cupcakes in a cup and watch their virtual games.

Oh, oh, and you know what I loved best? That the credits at the end, after the humans have come back to Earth, tell the story of how they learn how not to be lazy and dependent and learn how to get up off their asses and be self-sufficient and how to grow things and fish and stuff, BUT they do it in historically progressing forms of art. Like, they start out with animation in the style of cave paintings, then Egyptian hieroglyphics, and Greek mosaics and woodcuts and Impressionist and all the way down the line. It was just this little detail to it that I adored.

Also, I went to the bar with my buddies tonight and it was the best time I've had with them in a long time.

Fuck being broke, you guys, 'cause that was a blast.

I totally spoiled myself for the ending because I really had to know whether WALL•E died and whether I would bawl like a little girl who's been told no, you can't have a pony, not yours. And yet I bawled anyway. Even though I knew EVE would fix WALL•E, just seeing her upset because he didn't remember her and was starting to compact all his prized possessions...that was it, man, I was gone. I'M GETTING ALL WIBBLY JUST TYPING ABOUT IT NOW. Dear god, what an amazing movie.

Oh, man, YES. I almost cried there, and when he gave her the plant and she shut down and he just ... he took such good care of her. AWWWW.
