GIMME FOOD YOU HOR.
Jul. 9th, 2008 02:42 pmI get to go grocery shopping tomorrow! \o/
So I've been writing grocery lists for the past week or so, I've been so desperate for food that I don't have to nuke. And thanks to my big fat paycheck, I can splurge on food that's NOT bad for me. Of course, I'm betting the fairly short list of fruits and vegetables and whatnot I just made is going to soak up most of my budget. OMG, mainstream media, write me another stupid story questioning why those lazy poor people are fat again while I try to figure out why the same amount of money that could keep me fed for three weeks on Pepsi, Cheetos, and Banquet TV dinner can't last a week when I try not to buy crap, okay? *sigh*
Still no calls from any of the jobs I sent out resumes for. Which, okay, I'm not surprised about. And I still haven't gotten a call from the call center I went and interviewed with, which really pisses me off. I'm pretty sure that if they called now I'd turn them down, too, because the training session starts on Monday and there's no way in hell I'm about to leave a job without giving two weeks notice. Sorry, not a chance, and not for a call center job no matter how well it pays compared to my current job. I'm still hoping that shipping clerk job calls me because, seriously, it's TWICE what I'm making now. Even if it's all the way down in Wilkes-Barre I'd have to be an idiot to say no, even though it'll suck come winter. But I have a feeling it's located in Scranton which ... hell, that's not so bad. I already have to drive down to Scranton in the winter anyway. *shrugs*
There's also another job I wouldn't mind getting a callback for that's date entry and I'm not sure about the salary, but I'm pretty sure it's regular hours and that's a selling point. Also, they have a couple of work-from-home positions that open up occasionally and I'm betting it'd be easier to get them from the inside. I'd much rather work at home curled up on my couch with a drink and my cat snuggled up against me in the middle of winter than drive to work.
In other news, I'm horribly tempted to try rereading the Twilight books. Not because I think I'd like them, obviously, but because I'd rather read them and still be irritated than don't, you know? Of course, I'm not about to go out and buy new copies or anything, and the last time I tried to borrow them from the local library I brought them back late. So I'm thinking of bringing some of the paperback romances I have lying around my apartment down to the used bookstore by Jess's house and see if they have some copies of the books lying around.
I'm also tempted to take pictures of my living room and office this week, since that's where I spend most of my time in the apartment and they look the most lived-in. Just to give you guys some idea of where I hang my hat. Or, more aptly, where I stretch out on the couch until I roll into the well-worn divot in the back and have to be rescued by Bruce Willis and a rag-tag team of unlikely heroes.
EDIT: From the TWoP recap of last night's America's Got Talent, regarding the James Gang:
They sing, dance, mix and scratch and entertain the audience all without explaining their outfits at all. They are good, but I'm completely confused by the attire.
I'm sorry, which part of the styles they're mixing and their attire is so goddamn confusing?

Date: 2008-07-09 06:55 pm (UTC)UHM< YES! I just had that same stupid argument with one of my coworkers who is a "vegietrendar" meaning a vegetarian who is one because its trendy*sigh*
I live in Fl and even our own fruits and veggies like strawberries and mangoes and tomatoes are like stupidly expensive. BUT if I wanted to live of Mcdonalds $1.00 menu--no problemo! Ive started referring to fast food as the poor mans food. WTH? We are so overindustrialized its crazy. When I visited Cuba, they had fastfood vegan restaurants with really cheap locally grown food. Something we should think about here in my opinion...
