The trailer for Michelle Trachtenburg's new movie is up on Apple Trailers, and she's wearing a bikini in it. I know she's a teenager, but daaaaaaaamn, is that girl skinny. You know, I figured she'd learn something from spending so much time with SMG, but really, I'm not sure that how to get mistaken for a microphone stand when you turn sideways is the life lesson she should have picked up.

i'm tired of seeing stick thin actresses. every time i see someone on tv that has some meat on them, i feel like applauding. gotta love people who have their own personality and don't feel like they have to belong to some kind of fashion or whatever it is.
this is coming from a reformed anorexic, so i am not attacking anyone, i'm just saying...food is good.

I don't mean to offend, but what is the difference between APPEARING thin and APPEARING anorexic? I capitalized that because I know some women work hard to be thin, by working out and staying in shape. But how do you tell, from the outside, when it is unhealthy?

My personal standard, for anyone who wishes to attack me? I don't like to be able to see a woman's ribs. Yes, women have ribs... but I don't want to be able to count them. From across the room. With my glasses off.

Yeah, she hasn't really done a good job learning from others' examples. You'd think watching SMG would tell her "don't be a big bitch to your coworkers or no one will like you" and Benson would tell her "have lots of curves and both straight guys and lesbians will think you're sex on a stick." Given her experiments with more and more highlights, I fear she's also missed the Marsters lesson ("don't get sucked into bleaching your hair for an ongoing role AHHH IT BURNS!").

and i know some women who really truly honest-to-god *are* that thin naturally. i know because *i* was 105 pounds at 5'5" (48 KG at 165 cm) for years (from about 16 years of age, to 28 years old when i got pregnant the first time). i'd been a skinny kid too.

that was about the time that folks started realizing stuph about anorexia and i would get accused of it regularly. to the point where i finally told anyone who accused me of it that they had to take me out to eat. where i would proceed to out-eat most of them. (and no, i wasn't bulimic either - i just had a very high metabolism).

one of the downsides was, i *had* to eat regularly and a lot, or i would start feeling faint...

so - before you start passing judgements on folks, remember that you don't know whether they're like that naturally or not. i have a number of friends who are the same way. in fact many of them have gone to protein supplements to try to *gain* some weight.

now - if you have a friend who you *know* is on a diet and has been losing weight to the point where you can count her ribs and still thinks she's fat... that's another thing entirely...

Actually, I was referring to some of the recent Playboy centerfolds.

There's a balance.

Able to sit in only one chair at a time is important. Slim is attractive. Athletic is downright sexy. Looking like a walking skeleton? There's a reason why necrophilia is considered an aberration.

The problem with Sarah-Michelle Gellar and others like her is the risk of cutting yourself quite badly on her protruding collar bones. She's responsible for the biggest continuity error of the show - the way Buffy became less physically mature as the years passed.
