Didn't you just say that all the fail was used up? WHERE DID THEY GET THE FAIL? Is there a fail reserve somewhere where they store against future shortages? Are they drilling for fail in wildlife reserves? Are they buying fail from places with dodgy human rights records, so that it's stained with the tears of five year old factory workers?

Best comment ever.

As for the billboard..... Nope. Still speechless.

Maybe they're diverting all of the energy they could be putting into coming up with alternative options for gas-powered vehicles into fail factories spawned by fail windmills lining the hills of Failsylvania.

From: [identity profile] hawklaw.livejournal.com
I bet I can guess where they're getting the hot air to turn the windmills.

I like windmills...

But yeah. This fails.

I personally think the fail meteorite hit at the end of the failtaceous, wiping out the awesomsaurs* and depositing a layer of failurite that these folks have figured out how to refine into pure fail.

*because awesome is the opposite of fail.

No, fail factories that produce this sort of thing are powered by male bovine manure.

Also, I think this billboard is a good reason to hotlink to images at that site and see if we can make it crumble and die.

Do these people forget that A FUCKING REPUBLICAN was in office on 9/11?

Not a very bright one, and I would understand wanting to pretend he doesn't count, but still!

Date: 2008-07-15 07:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
But he was only in office for nine months! It TOTALLY doesn't count. You know, the same way it wouldn't if we had some huge terrorist attack a couple of weeks after a Democrat got voted into office ...

OH WAIT.

Date: 2008-07-15 08:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] channonyarrow.livejournal.com
That was my question! Obviously they're not preventing this sort of thing in the first place, so let's HAVE a Democrat so we don't have another 9/11. Republicans cause 9/11!

Or something. I don't know, I've lost it entirely looking at that image. I'm going "The math, it does not add up. The point, it is not made. The fail, it is massive."

Oh my goodness. That's so horrible I didn't even comprehend it at first- I just looked and saw an American flag in the background and thought, "Well, that's a very crude and stupid political ad." I didn't get how bad it was until I read the comments and scrolled back up for a second look and WHAT WHAT WHAT THE HELL IS THAT.

Florida, you LOSE.

I think an underwear ad in NYC once got removed for that reason. If you have the public safety reasoning it's not a violation of the First Amendment since it's content-neutral.

I am constantly filled with admiration that the writers of The Onion have not all given up, packed up and gone to raise emus in a farm somewhere on the Appalachians yet, because even if satire is not quite dead, it is struggling to draw breath through the increasingly dense amounts of irony-gauze real life has been sporting lately.

I was in grad school -- for film -- from 2003 - 2005, and one of my professors was a really, really insane screenwriter.

In February, 2004 I was sitting in a classroom taking his course in "Creating Historical, Biographical, Fantasy, and Science-fiction Worlds"* and he pulled out copies of the Boston Globe, New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal from his briefcase. He just started opening the newspapers and reading stories aloud. Mostly stories regarding government and politics (follies of the Bush Administration, still in Round I!). And after two articles, he put down the paper and took off his glasses.

"Folks," he said, looking seriously around the classroom of twentysomething twentysomethings, "The world doesn't need you. We don't need to write black comedy anymore. The world is doing it FOR YOU."

Paying off loans for my MFA until I'm 65, but THAT'S the moment I remember. Twice a day, these days...

*Yes, this class was as fun as it sounds.

I guess it's indicative of the way they have absolutely nothing else on which to campaign.

Republicans are good for the economy! Oh, wait . . . that won't work.

Republicans are great at foreign relations. Er . . . no.

Republicans are the party of family values? (Oops. Remember the whole under-age Congressional Aide sexual harassment thingy? Better ix-nay the amily-fay alues-vay line.)

OK, Republicans can cut government spending and balance that durned budget! No? Oh, dear.

OK, time to haul out the 9/11 stuff. Again.
