(We often get fashion design students in our store to get samples of fabric for school projects.)

Student: “Can I get some swatches? I go to the *** fashion school and need them for a class project.”

Me: “No problem. That’s the school I went to.”

Student: “Oh, cool! What do you do now?”

Me: “… I work here.”

Student: *their dreams crush before my eyes*

In other news I find it hilarious that every time another wanky Twilight link gets added to the most recent FW post I get more Hollow Girl inspiration.

I had that sort of experience when I was first trying to visit UC San Diego (which I ended up attending). I got lost and stopped at a 7-11 to ask for directions. The clerks were able to tell me how to get there and little tidbits about the campus...because they were both UCSD graduates who now worked in a 7-11. I got a little disheartened about my future employment prospects at that point.
