1. I'm not going to bed tonight until I get every single prompt left for [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon a pinch-hitter. Hmph.

2. From the earlier post, why I love the following characters:

Olli, VL: Because he's sweet and encouraging. Because he was as patient as he could be with Christian, considering he was a jackass way back when they were first sparking off one another. Because now that they're together, he's all "YAY, I have a boyfriend!" with the touching and the snuggling and how he does things like run his fingers through the hair at the base of Christian's neck and stuff.

Judith, VL (asked for elsewhere): Because she wears a hard hat to work. Because she's smart and snarky and loyal. Because she's got absolutely no idea what to do with guys who like her, and acts like a spazz around them, and is horribly indecisive over who to choose, and then inevitably decides on someone who makes you go, "Oh, honey, no." Because she attracts boys and doesn't even know what to do with them and yet I still don't hate her for it. (Although I do want to shake some sense into her, but whatever.) Because I think she's the most gorgeous woman on the show and I kinda want to make out with her. A lot.

Tim Gunn, PR: Because he's God. Because he's never wrong and you can tell how stupid someone is by how they respond to his criticism. Because he's a silver fox who uses big words. Because he's God. (This cannot be stressed enough.)

Olive Snook, Pushing Daisies: Because she's still in love with Ned but she's developed this fabulous relationship with Chuck. Because she's exactly the kind of person the aunts need to draw them out. Because she bursts into song, and she used to be a freaking jockey, and because she has the good taste to realize that Alfredo is awesome, albeit a wee bit late.

John Winchester, SPN: Because he loves his sons more than anything on the planet but my God, is he a freaking screw-up as a father. Because he's a complete ass-kicker but he totally fails at anything remotely resembling normal social interaction. Because he's a total DILF.

Sarah Connor, Terminator-'verse (I'm imagining you mean movieverse Sarah? ;)): Because she was just this average girl who was taking classes and waitressing and generally taking life one step at a time, and then this weird hot guy shows up and just dumps this destiny in her lap. Because she had every reason to come out of the events of the first movie and try to make John's life normal, to try and forget everything that happened, but instead she thought of the bigger picture and started forging him into a weapon and a leader from an early age. Because she went completely bugfuck insane (you know, as you do) and ... and she loves her kid, she does, it's just that Kyle broke her and somewhere along the line she figured it was okay to break John, too, just as long as either he or she could save whoever they could. Because even after everything that happened in T2, she was still paranoid enough to prepare ahead. (Yeah, I referenced T3. Tell me that isn't pure Sarah behavior, though.)

Diana, The 4400: Because she didn't have to take in Maya, but she did and it turned out she was an awesome mom, and it felt right even though it felt weird to me when I saw the very first episode. Because she had the damn good taste to date Marco, even if they did break it off later. Because she was kickass in a 'verse where most of the kickass characters had freaking superpowers.

And ... well, I've never seen more than a few episodes of BSG, so I neither love nor hate Col. Tigh, whoever he is. (And before anybody says, "Oh, you should watch, you'd like that!" ... I have given it a try, it just didn't really hook me. God only knows why not, considering the way the whole damn series starts.)

3. Oh, my God! Bryan Fuller recently revealed that the coroner is homosexual and is secretly in love with Emerson.

*HAS NO WORDS*

*CANNOT SPEAK*

*NEEDS THIS AS A FIC YESTERDAY*

oh god poor man is going to get his heart broken. :(

4. Aaaand another meme, boosted from a few people:

Easy: Twenty Things Learned on Road Trips... It's just a nice little piece that gives a human touch to every character on Heroes.

ummm, i am under orders to do nothing stressful, just to lounge around the house all week and take my pills. (wisdom teeth extraction)

So depending on the fandom, I might be able to help pinch-hit any strays. Bandom, 10th Doctor Who, Torchwood in particular (I'm in that kind of fannish mood).

Just, y'know. Offering. If you need.

Straight on til Morning

This story is the reason why I love fanfic. Because the networks and studios would never give us Mary's story like this. I love this fic, but it makes me so angry that I only get stories like this, stories about women, in fanfiction. That I'll never get them on my telly.

Thaaank you. We are totally on the same page here. A friend of mine keeps bugging me over and over to watch BSG but I keep saying no and he keeps NOT GETTING IT.

I attempted to watch BSG and I really liked it a LOT. But most of what I liked was just Sharon Athena and Helo's storyline.

So then once I started to watch the show as it aired it was like "Hm. Not nearly enough of them in this." So I lost interest.

I've got all of the DVDs though, except the most recent season.

One day I'll go back and actually WATCH all of it.

Without a doubt I Seek a Silent Fortress. You get Red's voice exactly right. I can hear him in my head speaking the lines. It's an absolutely amazing piece of writing.

Three way tie between Real Men Don't Make Cheesecake, The Extremely Smooth Seduction (And Don’t Let Anyone Ever Tell You Otherwise) Of Dr. Badass, and Clay and Paste and Down.

LOVED them to bits because of the narration, the tone of the voice and the imagery. I've never read second person narration quite like yours.
