Actress Lindsay Lohan has finally confirmed her lesbian relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson, making the confession during a U.S. radio interview.

The Mean Girls star has long been rumoured to be dating her close pal Ronson, but has so far refused to comment on the claims.

Gossips were sent into a spin earlier this year when Lohan was caught kissing and cuddling Ronson during a party at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

The pair has been inseparable since, and Ronson recently fuelled reports by allegedly telling party-goers at a gig: "By the end of the year, my love will be Mrs Ronson."

And now Lohan has broken her silence about the romance after calling in to a U.S. radio station to express her condolences to the victims of the weekend plane crash in Columbia, South Carolina, reports MTV.co.uk.

She paid tribute to the victims of the tragedy, which left four dead and her pals Adam 'DJ Am' Goldstein and rocker Travis Barker with severe burns.

The radio DJ then asked Lohan: "Now, you guys, you and Samantha, have been going out for how long now? Like two years? One year? Five months? Two months?"

Lohan paused briefly, before replying, "A long... a very long time."

Oh, man, I hope that's true and not some sort of misunderstanding. I like them together. I think they look adorable, and I'm not even a big Lindsay Lohan fan or anything. Samantha seems to be good for her. It's nice to hear her pretty much say, "Yes, we're dating."

I listened to the audio of it on dlisted and I don't think there could have been any misunderstanding. After the bit you quoted, the DJ said something along the lines of "You guys are a lovely couple" and she thanked him. It was kind of adorable even if I can't stand either of them.

I think it probably is (true), and I agree that it seems like a good relationship. It's at least gotten her to tell her dad off, and thank god for that - he's Crazy McCreeperpants. But yeah, she's said some really awesome, snarky, grounded things lately. Which, I mean, doesn't preclude being really messed up unfortunately, but I guess it's better to be a good person and have some character flaws than be a horrible person who's "good" all the time.

On the other hand, I also think it's massively messed up for the DJ to shove that question into her time calling in to pay tribute to DJ AM and Travis Barker. I'm pretty sure she is RL friends with them, not just garnering attention, and they're in pretty bad shape, not to mention that some people who ran in that same circle just died horribly.

Ugh. The whole thing makes me really sad.

I just wish she had kept making cool, smart movies with Tina Fey instead of becoming a train wreck, because otherwise she'd be the first out major movie actress.

I actually never stopped liking her, despite all the trainwreckery. Something about her makes me feel protective and big-sisterly. I can't quite explain it.

Awww, good for her. They're a cute couple. I just wish she'd come out right at the beginning and admitted it. All this 'umming' and 'ahhing' and 'no comment' makes them seem as though they're ashamed or something, and they've nothing to be ashamed of. They're young, they're in love - shout it out!

there has definitely been a LOT less Lohan in the tabloids except like "Here's La Lohan and Sam Ronson shopping. Here they are walking dogs."
