From here:

Of concern to McCain's campaign, however, is a remaining and still-undisclosed clip from Palin's interview with Couric last week that has the political world buzzing.

The Palin aide, after first noting how "infuriating" it was for CBS to purportedly leak word about the gaffe, revealed that it came in response to a question about Supreme Court decisions.

After noting Roe vs. Wade, Palin was apparently unable to discuss any major court cases.

There was no verbal fumbling with this particular question as there was with some others, the aide said, but rather silence.

Need video of this yesterday. Oh, jeez.

Ah, no, chica. What's infuriating is that CBS chose not to air it. :P Because seriously -- relevant much?!?! What is up with protecting politicians like this? 10 years ago, CBS would have run cackling off clutching the video and interrupted regularly scheduled programming to air it. :P

Well, according to a comment on RHR, "The Huffington Post is reporting that these responses (or non-responses) about the supreme court are not unaired portions of the Couric interview but actually part of the "Vice Presidential Questions series with Palin and Joseph Biden which was always scheduled to air in the days before the vice presidential debate." " So it's still scheduled to air if that's correct.

Ah. That's significantly better. Not the least because we might be able to see it. :) I plan on bringing popcorn.

Yeah, I've been hearing over and over that these clips are meant to be aired on Wednesday / Thursday, along with clips of Biden being asked same/similar questions.

Ten years ago? Dude, they wouldn't have done that ten months ago. Not that Hillary Clinton would have ever gotten herself in that position, but you can bet that if she had it would've been jumped on so hard they would have interrupted your regularly scheduled programming to show it to the world.

Oh man, that's going to hit my embarrassment squick so hard...and yet I feel strangely compelled to watch nonetheless.

Oh man, that's going to hit my embarrassment squick so hard.

OMG, I'm not the only one who does this? There are parts of certain episodes -- reruns I've seen a million times -- that I still have to hit Mute or leave the room because I get all horribly squirmy watching humiliation.

Though this doesn't seem to apply to politicians.

I do that, too. I don't even like to see characters I dislike get embarrassed, even if they deserve it. The worst thing is when somebody else is watching a scene like that and I walk in the room and I'm caught off guard. I have to run right out, I can't take it.

OMG, I'm not the only one (other than my son, now, it seems...) who will run from embarassing TV? Whew. I feel better now.

Same here. I couldn't even watch the middle part of Bring it On when I happened to catch it on TV last year.

I can't watch Ugly Betty anymore because of this squick. And I really liked that show.

Haha, I do that too.

...but I agree with etoilepb, politicians generally don't hit that with me. Possibly because they affect my life more than reality TV contestants and minor movie characters? I honestly don't know.

I want to say that 'Hey, Obama (the CONSTITUTIONAL LAW PROFESSOR) and Biden clearly could name quite a few', but you know what? My high school students could probably name more than one Supreme Court case.

I want to see this video SO BAD now.

You have students? Ask them to name some. Please.

I'm going to ask my friends on LJ. Let's make a meme!

I have a few students that could probably give me all (or most) of the Big Deal cases.

I have a few who didn't know that we don't directly elect the President until last week. On the other hand, my students aren't running for Vice President.

Not going to say anything, since I wouldn't be able to name any either. But then again, I'm not American.

So, I just saw Katie asking Sarah Palin about how she gets her news, what newspapers she reads and she says, "All of them." Katie asks for a specific one, and Sarah just repeats, "Any of them. All of them."

WTF? You can't name ONE FREAKIN' NEWSPAPER?? Just say "The Times" and you could mean either New York or London. For fuck's sake.

... and she just threw out the "One of my best friends is gay" card.

I think I have a bingo.

Wow. I'm surprised she has time to do any work if she's reading all the major American and European newspapers every day.

You know what I think it was? Remember way back when when George Bush said something like, "Oh, I don't really read newspapers," and people thrashed him for it? I think maybe she had that in her brain when Katie asked, and didn't want to make the obviously wrong answer, and completely overcompensated.

It's just ... she couldn't have said the Wasilla Frontiersman? The Juneau Empire? I mean, hell, if I leaned out my front door right now and grabbed the first person to walk past on the sidewalk, they could at least name the Forest City News and the Scranton Times-Tribune.

I mean, for fuck's sake.
