ARGH.

My laptop crashed. I spent the entire day on the phone with tech support. I have most of my novels saved, thank God, but my NaNo novel is gone (I should be grateful there was so little of it). And now I'm late for work because of it.

See my icon? I am trying really, REALLY hard not to make that face.

That happened to me yesterday. I managed to save all but the last thirty pages of my novel. Of course, those last thirty pages were all but bled out, they were so hard. I was your icon all day yesterday.

Spent two hours last night manually inputting every financial transaction since October 12th, since I discovered at lunchtime yesterday that my PDA's hard drive had wiped itself again, and that's how old my backups were. (On the plus side, I don't think I'd done much of anything but finances with the PDA since then -- aside from a few knitting pattern notes and shopping lists -- and at least it was possible to log into my various accounts and find all the transactions, payments, and fees that I had to re-input. On the minus side, that's two paydays covered in the span of time I was re-doing, and some of the stuff from Halloween's paycheck hadn't shown up in my bank account quite yet.)

And as if that hadn't made me paranoid enough (I didn't just re-backup my PDA once I'd finished inputting everything I could track down, I did so several times in mid-data-entry, just in case), I'm now remembering that I need to start making a habit of not just backing up my desktop every Friday night but also should look into backing up the files that I have to keep on the laptop because it's XP and the desktop is Vista. (Which, added bonus, would ensure that I'm backing up the PDA every week, since I do so every time I turn on the laptop.)
