Nov. 5th, 2008 03:45 pm-- Oh, my God, you guys. The VP-elect is originally from Scranton. HA. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Ahem. (Not like I didn't know that about Biden already but STILL.)
-- I ran down to the library to pick up Breaking Dawn. Oh, hell, now I'm actually going to have to read it.
-- Still haven't restarted my NaNo. My messy apartment is just too much of a distraction, so I'm going to spend the next couple of hours before work straightening up. (What gives me hope that I can make a major dent in my NaNo when I get a day off again are those people who already have 40,000 words. Like, seriously? Fuck, I wrote ten thousand words on Thanksgiving the year I won. I can TOTES do that on a four-day weekend. \o/)
-- I've been trying to look for a bright spot in Prop 8 passing (God, anything) and it's the fact that it was not the sweeping landslide it could have been in. It cut it really close, considering. Yes, it still passed, but it's the sliver of the population in difference that's the bright spot, because if there's any state that may be blue enough to overcome it eventually, it would be California. This is what the civil rights movement is. It's hard and it sucks and there's back steps and stumbles. And then one day a black man becomes the President-elect.
Due to the presidential race turning out the way it did, I'm hopeful. You be hopeful, too.
-- Speaking of, I really wish I hadn't been at work last night. Those people sure do know how to harsh a bitch's squee, I swear to God. *sigh*
-- 9 Innocent Google Searches That Get Porn On The First Page. NSFW, obvs.
-- Due to my working every day of overtime they will give me I may be able to get one of my teeth fixed in the next two weeks. I'm going to talk to the dentist and see. I'm pretty sure he'll shoot down doing the other two teeth by themselves since they're right next to one another, but I'll have to see. Doing each of them individually is probably my best bet.

Date: 2008-11-05 08:58 pm (UTC)Last night, as we were steering our tipsy butts out of the bar, we were all giggling, "Heeheehee, the President-elect's middle name is Hussein. We voted for that on purpose! Hahaha!"

Date: 2008-11-05 09:51 pm (UTC)And they sexed happily ever after in their magic cottage while their half-vampire toddler slept in the next room, and it was the best series starting with a teenage girl in love with a mysterious boy in her class that ended up with a teenage girl defending her growth-accelerated mutant hybrid baby from an ancient clan of evil vampires with her magical psychic shield that I ever read, THE END.

Date: 2008-11-05 11:27 pm (UTC)But it's not done. Legal challenges are being filed, oh yes, and ones that have at least a halfway decent shot of going somewhere. (The major gist is: the ballot measure was put through improperly because it removes rights, which is not what the amendment process is used for and doing so actually requires a revision, not an amendment - the courts declined to hear the case before the vote because they were essentially hoping the vote would make it go away. Now, though, there's a chance to have the initiative declared unconstitutional, and I swear to you up and down there is NO FUCKING WAY we will let this go through the revision process.) The ACLU announced their brief today.
I will not give up this fight. Last night was depressing but today I'm angry, and I'm not stopping here. We knew either way this was only a battle in the war.
