The group opposing it isn't going to get anywhere, either. Connecticut is called the Land of Steady Habits. When Connecticut changes something, it doesn't change back in a hurry...if it changes back at all.
It's in Massachusetts, it's in Connecticut, and marriages performed elsewhere have to be recognized in New York (thanks to Rochester :D). It's only a matter of time.
There are (admittedly problematic) civil unions in NJ, too. And the dissent in the NJ Supreme Court didn't want to strike the whole thing down; they wanted to insist on marriage and not on giving the Legislature the choice to call it a civil union.
Anyway, the NJ state legislature is the only one I've heard of lately to get rid of the death penalty, so it isn't altogether crazy to think they might approve of making marriage gender-neutral in the next few years. Which would be awesome.
YAY MY STATE! \o/ \o/ I am rarely proud of my little rectangle, but right now I totally am. ♥ When I first heard about the decision, I totally proposed to my roommate who also happens to be from Connecticut :D
Dude, I grew up in the little pokey bit too! (The dongle? That's a... creative name! haha) I lived in Norwalk until I was 14, then moved to Bridgeport but went to school in Stamford until I was 18! Where did you grow up?
And then years later, after I'd moved away, I got a job at a multimedia firm in SoNo. It was weird parking in the same lot as the theater where I first saw Rocky Horror.
King and Low Heywood Thomas School. It used to be three different schools but they merged over the years. And no, Newfield Ave was definitely not middle class... at least not where the school was. Big mansions on private streets. But where I lived in Norwalk was.
The sign wasn't egged by McCain supporters. Some passing eggs were overcome by their love for Obama and threw themselves at the sign as a show of affection.
Yep. Which once again goes to show that I WIN! I mean, assuming that my brother and I were in a contest about which is the better place to settle down and set down roots and stuff.

Are you still in CT?
