The group opposing it isn't going to get anywhere, either. Connecticut is called the Land of Steady Habits. When Connecticut changes something, it doesn't change back in a hurry...if it changes back at all.

It's in Massachusetts, it's in Connecticut, and marriages performed elsewhere have to be recognized in New York (thanks to Rochester :D). It's only a matter of time.

There are (admittedly problematic) civil unions in NJ, too. And the dissent in the NJ Supreme Court didn't want to strike the whole thing down; they wanted to insist on marriage and not on giving the Legislature the choice to call it a civil union.

Anyway, the NJ state legislature is the only one I've heard of lately to get rid of the death penalty, so it isn't altogether crazy to think they might approve of making marriage gender-neutral in the next few years. Which would be awesome.

King and Low Heywood Thomas School. It used to be three different schools but they merged over the years. And no, Newfield Ave was definitely not middle class... at least not where the school was. Big mansions on private streets. But where I lived in Norwalk was.

Stamford was mostly either-or. Even the creepy subdivisions where all the houses looked the same cost a fortune.

St. John's was the PJ's--or the bricks, as they call them up here in Mass. Still, there were rougher places to live. Southfield Village comes to mind.
