Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My wishlist:

1. Notebooks (quad or college ruled) and pens.

2. Clothes. I kinda really need clothes. I'm a 7/8 in pants and a medium in tops.

3. A new MP3 player. Mine's about to die, I can just see it coming.

4. Food I've probably never tried, like regional stuff or snacks from other countries or whatever.

5. The bobbin case for a Brother VX-1120 sewing machine.

6. A new pair of Uggs, size seven. (My other pair was kinda cheap and fell apart last winter. :( )

7. Puzzle books.

8. Do something nice for someone else. Volunteer, donate blood, help out wherever you can. It's hard times and we could all use the pick-me-up that comes from helping and being helped.

9. Wish me luck at either keeping my job or finding a new one?

10. Schmoopy and/or smutty Shelter, Verbotene Liebe, Hero, and Latter Days fic for the main gay pairings. And Project Runway Canada Lucien/Biddell fic. And if anybody wants to slash Simon Amstell with someone, I'd read that.

Just email me and I'll give out my snailmail.

I think I've missed a lot of other people's wishlists. Anybody want to link to theirs so I can see what I can handle? :)

For some reason I'm feeling particularly festive this year. I've actually been listening to Christmas music willingly on occasion, which is just odd for me. Usually I give myself brain damage every year banging my head off things whenever I hear it.

Hon, they'd be *idiots* to let you go! They need you and they know it and you'll keep working until you find the job that jumps up and says 'I love you and you must be mine!'.

So, good luck.

What is it you do, anyway?

Heh. I work at a factory that makes CDs and DVDs. I've been making the Twilight soundtrack for the past two weeks and it's pretty much killed any desire I might have to see the movie even for the LULZ. (Partly because of watching it go buy on the belts for hours on end and partly because that stupid sticker goes on before the poly does and it's a pain in the ass and I have to deal with it on my end. UGH.)

But, thanks. I'm trying to keep optimistic 'cause if I'm reading the operator averages for our section I've got the highest percentage, and I tried training somewhere else and did really well so they could always put me there, but if they do a huge shut-down I'm so very very screwed. And hey, if I get laid off I can always focus on writing for a month or two and see what happens. *shrugs*

Mine is here. Also, I have a Christmas music mix that I've uploaded here which is full of dorky music if you or anyone else is interested.

Good luck with the job! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Mine's here, and, er. Definitely will do what I can with #9. For 7, what sort of puzzle books do you mean? and, er, I have Other Things I can help with, so could you pretty-please email me your address? (isabeau@lj should work) ...unless you've guessed my identity as Sekrit Mail-Bomber, in which case you don't have to ;)

Those variety puzzle books with lots of different stuff in 'em. I've been bringing them into work with me and everybody's been copying the ones they like so we can kill time. We've been, uh, killing a LOT of time lately. :)

Mine is here.

I can definitely contribute for one and two, possibly some others. Do you want to check my website and let me know your preferences for shirts? Or should I surprise you? *g*

Ooo, I have bunches of those songs. Give me a bit to re-upload the program for my Zen and I'll see how much I can get you.

Surprise me. :) (You still have my address, right?)
