I'm laid off again for another two weeks. Oh, this should be amusing.

I ordered three books last week from Amazon when I got my tax return, a couple of gay romances and American Wife. If they all come today -- which it looks like they will -- I'm going to laugh. Or cry, because I'm not allowed to read any of them until I finish GPW, damn it.

I would love to spend the entire day on the couch because I still don't feel so hot, but I'm out of Cheetos, soda, and cat food, so I don't really have a choice.

... Jesus, I sound like a worthless slug. *sigh*

American Wife is terrific, but it's not as good as either Prep or Man of My Dreams; then again, it's also a gigantic thematic departure for Sittenfeld.

Only because I worry about making my bills. I'd LOVE to not have to work.

Well, luckily we can file for the days we're on layoff, so we can get unemployment for it. The way our shifts are set up, we get four weeks of 36-hour checks and four weeks of 48-hour checks. My new weekly payout for unemployment is ninety bucks more than it is for my 36-hour weeks and only twenty bucks less than my 48-hour checks. Quite frankly, I might as well stay home at this point.

That's not even taking into consideration that it turns out we're still getting our pay-for-performance bonuses for the last half of last year, so there's a really good chance I'll get an extra check from work just for being me. ;)
