I like almost everybody so far, which is great. So, by team as they arrive at the pit stop ...

Margie and Luke -- YAY! And Phil told them they were first in sign language! Awwww. They really are one of my favorite teams, and not just because he's cute. And aw, him crying at the pit stop. *hugs*

Tammy and Victor -- I'm ambivalent about them right now. They're very good at the race, but I'm not enamoured of the plotting already.

Mark and Michael -- I like them a lot so far. Stuntmen for kids? THAT'S AWESOME.

Mel and Mike -- Yay! Love them. And Mel is as funny as I expected. Heh.

Amanda and Kris -- Aw, they seem sweet so far.

Brad and Victoria -- I like them a lot more than I thought. She's a little asskicker, isn't she? Heh.

Jamie and Cara -- Eh, they're all right. I'm bothered that they didn't actively look for a cab that one time, but whatever, there's a learning curve.

Kisha and Jen -- Eh. I don't really have an opinion on them yet, but it's early.

Steve and Linda -- Ugh. Currently my least favorite team. Telling her she needs to speed up constantly doesn't help at all, moron, it just makes you look like a dick.

Christi and Jodi -- Yay! They kinda fail so far but they're not pissing me off yet, unless you count my annoyance that they didn't check when the train arrived rather than when it left.

Preston and Jennifer -- OH THANK GOD. I could already see the fights coming because they were already there. You two have done ONE LEG. The bitching and sniping can hold off a little while, you know that, right?

NEXT WEEK: Linda continues to be incredibly inept. Margie and Luke get pies thrown at them while Luke rolls his eyes and I worry I'm going to lose my deaf hotass.

There's no frat boy teams! I am so happy to see that. I really like Margie and Luke and Mel and Mike. I think the stuntment can be fun. The rest of the teams are still all blended together. Except for Steve and Linda. I did take solace in the fact that if they had been last, it would have been Steve's fault (because he went in the wrong direction).

I love the alpine region and was happy to see them there. It really is that pretty. And the laughing cheese guys were the highlight of the episode.

I'm really hoping that preview for next week is Luke mugging for the camera, because I don't want to think there's trouble in paradise. I love them! They're so cute together! She's all, "Oh, he could run the whole race by himself, I'm just the translator he's dragging along!" and he's all, "Aw, Mom! *hugs*" D'awww.

I do have to give Steve credit because even after everybody else figured out the cheese-carrying contraptions were shit, he was like, "Screw it, give me three," and I think he only gave Linda one because they both had to do it (maybe, I think, that's the way it sounded). I mean, hell, if you can get away with it in that situation, you might as well find a way to get all four down at once.

Oh, drunk guys. I bet they had a drinking game going. "Swig if they break the carrier, chug if they slide down on their butts ..."

I like the mother and son team. They have such a great rapport, NOT THAT THERE ARE OTHER SUCK-ASS PARENT/CHILD TEAMS I COULD BE POINTING TO.

I know, right? If you know you fight at the drop of a hat, WHY ARE YOU HERE? Hi, have you WATCHED this show? It's one of the reasons I debate trying to get on with my brother -- we never EVER fight, but that boy's got a temper I'm not sure I want to deal with while we're, say, ankle-deep in a rice paddy in Thailand or something.

Maybe I'm naive, or hang with an overly-tolerant crowd or something, but every time Luke said something like, "People think deaf people can't do things," I kind of went, "Um, do they still?"

Which, granted, the deafness is going to be a bitch to bear when inevitably they choose him for a roadblock that ends up being a communicate-with-the-locals task, but for a leg of essentially "Take some transit, jump off a dam, carry some cheese," this was not a hearing-biased leg. If we (the hearing community) are going to be scolded for selling him short every leg, whether he was actually at a disadvantage for it or not, I'm going to get irritated with him pretty quickly.

Yeah, I'm hoping that's one of those things that wears off after the first episode or so. Because really, is anybody sitting around thinking a deaf guy can't win TAR? As long as he's got a pen and a pad of paper and can find people who read and write English as well as speak it, he doesn't really have much of a disadvantage.

Oh, they're KID stuntmen! I just hopped on this season during the bungee jump and my first thought was "oh, were they hobbits?"

Yeah, they said they stand in for kids at the beginning of the episode. They remind me of the potato bugs from A Bug's Life. :)
