Bend It Like Beckham

But first, I watched the "Who Wants to Cook Aloo Gobi?" short. Oh my God, are Gurinder's aunt and mom adorable. And I've never had aloo gobi, but watching this is seriously making me hungry for it.

You know, it might not be a sprained ankle, but I'm not feeling all that great. Can I have a foot massage from Jonathan Rhys Meyers?

If I'd been Keira, and I'd known beforehand they were going to make me wear the skimpiest top imaginable in a club scene, I think I would have made sure I didn't have tan lines accordant with wearing a total-body swimming outfit from 1912.

Jonathan should not be allowed to run or dance. He probably shouldn't walk, either. Quite frankly, he should be wheeled from place to place on a handcart and propped up to act in different places. He manages to be all cool and sexy right up until he gets up and suddenly he's trying out for leadership of the Ministry of Silly Walks.

God, I love this soundtrack. *swoons at the pretty music*

The team redressing Jess for the wedding is just the cutest shot.

And now, onto Freaky Friday.

Hey, I liked both these movies, but I wish I knew what actors you were talking about.

I love the team putting the sari on Jess. I watched it with boyo and during the wedding scene, we look at each other and said, we want that wedding! And then we pouted because our parents didn't have the decency to have either of us be born Indian.

I know! I want to marry an Indian guy just for an excuse to wear the clothes and play the music. Everybody thinks I'm weird because I have a mini-disc that's totally Indian dance.

Indian music rocks. Of course my highschool was about 30% Indian (and my senior year roomate's boyfriend was Indian) so it was something I heard everyday and I came away with a great appreciation of the music and the food. (Weeps for lack of good Indian food in rural Washington.) Now we just have to warn the relatives that when the boys pick each other up and start jumping up and down to Nirvana that this is normal (and hella cool to watch, not so much when they randomly pick *you* up and spin you about).

Snerk. My thoughts exactly. I loved him unnaturally throughout the movie...until he ran. And then, I couldn't take him seriously, ever again. That airport running debacle has ruined him for me. Hee.

So is it worth a rental? What is it about?

It's about football. No, wait, you're a Bloody American. It's about soccer. And girls who play soccer. One of whom is Keira Knightley, and another of whom is that new intern on ER. And culture clash in modern Britain. And... well, actually I haven't seen it, because I'm the only British man on the planet who finds football soccer deathly boring. But that's what it's all about.

I don't know about anybody else, but American football bores me so much, I'd much rather call soccer football the way normal people on this planet do. (Of course, it's not that much more interesting to me than American football, but I loved the movie anyway.)

So, worst case scenario, I look at Keira for two hours? I have heard of worse fates.
