Yesterday, Deep Impact was on CBS. Now, Armageddon is on ABC.

Is this some weird way for the government to casually alert us to the oncoming threat of asteroid annihilation tomorrow night and have most of the population go, "There's another asteroid annihilation movie? Oh, come on!"

Oh, and I completely forgot Michael Clarke Duncan and Ben Affleck shared screen time in this. Hell, they were practically alone in that mooncar thingy. Well, Peter Stormare was there, but he was a killer in Fargo, so I'm sure he would have politely looked away while Michael and Ben entered a murder-suicide pact to save us all from Daredevil. Because that, my friends, was the real Armageddon. (Or at least, it felt that way in the theater. Until Jennifer Garner's breasts came on screen. Not that I was looking or anything, we just had a very nice conversation of Affleck cooties and how they felt so very skeeved.)

OK, you ROCK! Anyone that says 'Affleck cooties' should be worshipped as a goddess.

while flipping channels, i caught the ad for armageddon... did you see the warning? due to recent events/violent content, viewer discretion is advised.
recent events? i didn't know a meteor had knocked the top of the chrysler building off. funny, you'd think i'd have noticed.

See, I would have gotten that they were referring to the Columbia disaster (and I'm starting to believe I'd be lonely in that regard), but my first thought would have been, "A year ago is not recent! And is that the reason for all the asteroid movies? You're about to tell us the Columbia team were working on a giant asteroid and they failed and it's headed straight for us, aren't you? Aren't you?!"

Because, of course, I'm a morbid fuck.

Morbid

Just checking, but is that better or worse than a cold one?

I seem to remember that when the Columbia disaster happened, they were going to show Armageddon on one of the bigger networks. And they didn't because of the shuttle disaster in the film.

And if I recall correctly, they replaced it with Aliens 2.

Which (this makes the story great) ALSO has a shuttle disaster!

Well, it's not like it was a real shuttle with real astronauts like the ones in Armageddon. *nods solemnly*

Never even thought of that, which just proves that the government has brainwashed me with all the orange alerts.
