I'm having an internal debate.
May. 1st, 2009 04:57 pmTonight they're having music at the cafe and I really liked it last week, so I want to go again. There are just two problems:
1. Last week, Friday night was the only time since it opened that the service was abysmal. Why? Because they had waitresses who were from the high school and were just starting, and while the entire place was packed they were all in the back talking. I'm patient, and I usually let stuff like that slide, but I ordered soup and a Pepsi and by the time I got it fifteen minutes later, it was ice cold, had no spoon, and she forgot my drink. So ... yeah. There's a reason I usually go in the mornings -- because the owner, her brother, and the little Irish lady are there and they know me and it's not too hectic, so it's basically all of us and the guys from the florist shop across the street bullshitting.
2. The bigger problem is that the guy who's performing tonight is apparently the second coming of the Jonas brothers. Or something. He's more of a singer/songwriter, and I was there when he came in for an interview with them the other day and he was sweet, smart, and cute. I'd love to hear how he sounds.
The problem is that the owner heard about him from the high schoolers, because apparently they love him. Like, love him. I'm fully expected that place to be a madhouse of giddy teenage girls (you know, my mortal enemies) tonight, and to have to get there early or miss the entire thing. And it's going to be a bit of a distraction from writing if the cafe is as crowded as it sounds like it might get.
Bah ... I probably will go. I've spent the entire day grocery shopping, cleaning, and baking so I haven't gotten any writing done yet. I could easily just make myself a cup of tea, settle into my office, and spend the rest of the night hard at work. Why'd I have to go and set on my heart on cafe food? *pouts*
On the plus side, I have piping hot white chip chocolate cookies and odds are you don't. ;)
