apocalypsos: (kitten)
Went to see Big Fish today, and adored every minute of it. I'm not sure if it's my favorite Burton film, but it's definitely up there. I cried, but seeing as how everybody else in the audience was crying, I didn't feel quite so much like She Who Cries At "In Memoriam" Clip Reels.

Oh, and also? Now I know why my love life's a bad joke. Because I'm the kind of hopeless, hopeless romantic who wants some guy to give her a field full of daffodils. *girly fawning sigh*

And while I'm still in this cynical mood I've spent all day in, would someone with icon-makin' skillz take that kitty icon ... *points* ... and in that nice caption-y lettering put, "Every time I call Bush an asshat, terrorists kill a kitten"? Aside from Big Fish enjoyment, it's been one of those defending-my-rights kind of days.

GIP!

Last year, when "The Pianist" came out and everyone was pouncing on Roman Polanski, I said I was going to see the movie regardless of the schmuck who made it and judge it on its own merits. I now own a copy on DVD, as it was one of my favorite five movies from last year.

According to that reasoning, Mel Gibson being a homophobic asshat is no reason for me not to see "The Passion of the Christ".

Dear principles,

Fuck you.

Sincerely,

Me.
