apocalypsos: (i'm just shilling my books)
I feel like I was run over by a tractor trailer and it only paused to blow exhaust down my throat for seven straight hours. OW. My throat's so sore I'm a bit surprised I still have a voice.

But, yes! A writing update!

... um, everything's still on hold.

I'm still waiting on the Mystery Option Behind Door Number Three, but that's not a problem since I'm still waiting on the official big-girl's copyright to go through and I'm not dumb enough to e-publish with a poor man's copyright. I've got a cover for The Monsters Of Moosic (yay, [personal profile] azzinita!) and I still have to go over it one last time.

As for Heroine Addiction, I still have to do another edit on it, get an official big-girl's copyright, get a cover, and all of that still depends on whether or not the Mystery Option Behind Door Number Three goes through for that one, too. And then there's The Grand Prize Winner, which I'm currently working on re-outlining for the re-write I need to re-do because the first draft was a complete and total re-ject. Ahem.

Aaaand everything else is lower on the to-do list.

Really, this is just a head's up that unless the Mystery Option Behind Door Number Three goes through, I will be e-publishing as soon as possible.

In other news, Otis has decided to torture my sick ass by bolting randomly around the apartment and screaming at the top of his lungs. Thanks, pumpkin. *sigh*

Heh.

I don't follow Dancing With The Stars, but I spotted a headline on Yahoo OMG! which basically said that Ralph Macchio would be competing this week even though he has a serious knee injury, and unsurprisingly my first thought was, "I imagine that is one situation where the crane stance won't come in handy."

He brought me the pumpkin seeds he didn't get to bring me yesterday. YAY!

However, I have no Pepsi to drink with them. BOO. (Well, I have an incredibly flat half-filled bottle that's been tucked away in the shopping bag of all the teas I brought home from work weeks ago, but still .. ugh, warm and flat.)

However, while he was here ...

Me: "I got bored today and checked the school's website for the books I would need for next semester's Writing About Literature class, and apparently I'm going to need Fahrenheit 451. It *would* be something I haven't read before."

Bryan: "Huh. I've read Fahrenheit 451."

Me: "Really? There's something you've read that I haven't? Damn, mark the date. This is a situation we are never going to find ourselves in again."

Luckily I've got the ebook stashed away somewhere, but still. Heh.

In any event, I am still sick, and I kinda want to die, and I really hope I feel better tomorrow because I can't call off again. Oh, and there's barely any food in my house and I'm craving my mom's chicken soup like CRAZY.

... ew.

apocalypsos: (i'm sick of your bullshit)
I haven't had Lipton's hot tea in months, nor have I had anything but Splenda in my tea in nearly as long.

But my mom's usual suggestion when I have a bad cold is soup and tea (and when she says tea, she means the Lipton's), so I decided to go for it so that hopefully my cold would die down and partly because I've only had chai all weekend. And I don't drink the Lipton's with anything but real white sugar.

EW. Well, that's one way to remind myself why I prefer the loose tea to the bagged.

... shame it seems to be working.

*makes face, keeps drinking*

EDIT: Also, I've been dying to make maple walnut scones all damn day and I don't have half of the ingredients. Nor will I be able to afford them until Friday. *sigh*
apocalypsos: (i cannot believe you just said that)
The techno-joy it takes to get a new electronic device, take the instructions, and THROW THEM OUT THE WINDOW!! apparently also transfers to online FAQs, at least in my case.

I just checked the U.S. Copyright Office FAQ to remind myself of the processing times and spotted this addendum to the times that I hadn't noticed before:

Whatever time is needed to issue a certificate, the effective date of registration is the day the Copyright Office receives a complete submission in acceptable form. You do not need to wait for a certificate to proceed with publication.

... er, I don't?

So basically all I'm waiting for is to get shot down by the Mystery Option Behind Door Number Three and I could self-publish The Monsters of Moosic?

(Not that I want to get shot down by the Mystery Option. Seriously, I wouldn't have even gone along with the Mystery Option if it weren't that I've had giddy daydreams about doing exactly fucking THAT with my stories since waaaaaay back when, and I'd be an idiot not to try given the opportunity, and I'm perfectly realistic and fine about the whole thing. STILL.)
