Oh, my GOD, I hate this chapter, I want to hit it with STICKS. Big, pointy STICKS tipped in POISON and GASOLINE and LEMON JUICE. Ugh.

I have still not let anybody read this thing yet. It's almost hilarious at this point, because I have thirteen chapters done including the last chapter of the book and one more most of the way done, and usually by now I've harassed at least one person and been like, "OMG, READ THIS AND TELL ME I DON'T SUCK." (See: The Hollow Girl, the lousy fucker. *grumbles*)

I think you've possibly already figured out by now that I'm a little ... uh, needy? I don't want to put it that way, but it's probably apt. I don't know ... it used to be that any criticism, constructive or otherwise, would kinda make me want to curl up in a tight little ball and tremble like a newborn puppy. At least I'm not that bad anymore, but I still usually, like, need a hug and pat on the head and a cookie occasionally, you know what I mean? So I can't decide whether this is a step up or not, that I'm not grabbing every person in my email address book and begging for validation or whatever.

And seriously, where the hell do I come up with this shit in my stories? I don't think my brain works correctly. Sheesh.

I was going to stay up and write some more, but I kind of hate this chapter and want it to die and I really don't think that's the right frame of mind I should be in when I'm trying to, you know, write it and all. So here, have the trailer for The Princess and the Frog (oh, PLEASE don't suck):

I heard Disney had to do a rehaul of The Princess and the Frog due to racefail. Which...well, I'll give them credit for listening to people's protests, but I'm awaiting the results with some skepticism. Which is a shame, because I quite like Anika Noni Rose, who plays the princess.

Yeah, I'd heard of this too. It would feel a lot more genuine if Disney had been making more of these kinds of movies in the last few years, and if they hadn't started up that whole "Disney Princess" brand. As it is, I think they wanted another Princess to put on a coloring book or something and they had to make an entire movie to justify it.

Also, what's she the princess of? The set of "Live and Let Die"?

I really am hoping The Princess and the Frog is as good as I want it to be, the future of 2d animation kind of hinges on it, it looks utterly gorgeous and I'll be there in the theater. But, seriously, I almost thought they'd come out and say "After 75 years of magic.........we finally have a black character (who's not offensive enough to burn your face off)." :P

I read all the characters in the Lion King as black Africans (certainly, if I imagined anyone in the movie as human I imagined nothing else), but I don't think that counts.

I know. I kind of feel like I should be rounding people up and forcing them into the theatre in the spirit of "watch this, or NO MORE 2D ANIMATION EVER!" It feels significant. AH! (This, I feel, is not a sign of a measured response to a new film, but I miss Disney. And I miss having musical numbers in the films, dammit!)

I hear you on The Lion King too.

If by chance you need a beta for the book, I'm interested and willing. :)

Waaaiiiit a minute. A Princess And The Frog story set in New Orleans-ish? Liked it better when Terry Pratchett wrote it.

Aw! It looks great! Wasn't it after doing Enchanted that they decided to do another 2D animation film? I think it looks like it'll be awesome.

I love a lot of the old-school disney animation films and this looks to be good. I can only hope it lives up to expectations.
