You know, as cute as this rendition is, and as decent an acting job as the boy is doing, I can't help but wonder if he's miscast. Is he the BEST hot male singer/actor under 22 they could find? Seriously?! He's okay, but watching them on after another, the girl overpowers him in voice talent about 20:1. It makes their duet rather uneven.
... it's cute, but I'm just distracted by the completely studio recorded sound. He swaps over with the drummer without missing a single quaver of beat - I refuse to believe those backing singers are emoting like that and yet making such a tiny noise compared to the two leads. I haven't yet decided if this is cheesy-awesome or much too High School Musical for me.
