It's Merlin day! And also, Impact day, but I remembered Merlin is tonight first, sooo. :)

They're apparently showing the first two episodes tonight, but since Impact is on at nine on whichever channel it's on, that means missing the Valiant episode. Eh, I have already seen it anyway, but I'm going to watch it anyway because I'm planning to watch all thirteen episodes (or at least all of the ones they air -- I've decided to be optimistic and pretend they'll give us all thirteen) through the website, since if they're going to take a British show and air it as is rather than stealing the concept, writing it worse, and casting it with Americans like they do most of the time, then the least I can do is reward them with hits. Especially for this show, damn it.

So this is what happened when I went to the cafe today:

-- The owner and the little Irish lady who waitresses complimented my hair.
-- They both asked me numerous times to come to the drumming circle on Wednesday.
-- And then they said I have GOT to come to TAPAS night when they have a belly dancer and exotic food.
-- Also I found out they have apple pie smoothies. OM NOM NOM.

In turn, I pimped my brother's comedy show on Thursday night. I guess he and a few other comedians from the club got together and organized a bigger show in Scranton. Last week he was emailing local papers with ads and posting signs all over the city for it. I've never seen him show this much initiative over anything other than video games, so it's kind of neat to see. :)

Every time I see the GOP getting on Obama's case about how cautious he's being on Iran, my ass begins to twitch. They're already killing protestors and making claims about how America's on the side of the protesters, I can only imagine how much more fun we'd get to see if America got any more loudmouthed about the situation than it already is. Fuck, when the Iranian human rights organizations are telling you to step the fuck off, it's probably better to listen.

*sigh* Watching all of the photos and videos from the protests is tiring. And I just can't bring myself to watch the Neda video. *shivers*

Yeah, the GOP screaming to do something makes me want to slap people. (And I don't even have enough basic faith in them to think that it's coming from a noble, if knee-jerk human urge to help those people, already.) We can't. We're already overstretched into a war on two different fronts, at least one of which is unwinnable. We cannot take this on, even if the human rights groups of Iran were inviting us to do so rather than repeatedly and firmly telling us to stay back.

I'm sure they don't actually care or want to get involved; they're just jumping on an opportunity to try and make Obama look bad.

Don't watch the Neda video. Reading about it will give you all you need to know, and the still photos that accompany articles are graphic but still better than seeing it in action. I really don't have any words to describe it, other than to say I blacked out a bit when watching it.

I think Obama's caution is the right thing to do, and the GOP is driving me nuts. But that's nothing new.
