apocalypsosWell, Bosslady just called me, and it's official -- Captain Asshat is no longer an employee of DHL Airborne Express. *sobs* What the hell am I supposed to do for entertainment now?! Mock the idiots on the bus every day? Then again, that's actually not a bad idea.
So, yeah. Apparently, what it takes to get yourself incredibly fired is weeks if not months of women-hating behavior, the constant inability to shut up, loads of smug, self-important yammering, more mood swings than a ward full of mental patients, one takedown from a district manager, two complaint calls to the Bosslady, and the pride that comes with walking into the office of the two female sales reps and announcing that you haven't had sex in two years.
And if all else fails, there's always this outfit ...
Hey, the picture makes me giggle, all right? Sue me.
Oh, and also, For those of you out of the loop, "Miracle" is the story of the 1980 US Olympic hockey team. When I saw the trailer, I was kind of stunned they hadn't already made this movie, because this film? Kicked amazing amounts of hard-core ass.
Yeah, it's formulaic, but most sports movies are -- it's just about handling the story in an interesting way that grips you. People in my showing were cheering with every goal they scored against the USSR. It was a great feeling.
And it wasn't like I didn't already know Kurt Russell rocked, but this is one of the better performances he's ever pulled off. (Which makes up for the godawful haircut he sports for the whole movie.) Plus, the casting director did good in casting hockey players over actors. (Except for Eddie Cahill, it seemed like every actor I checked out on IMDb was a hockey player and only a hockey player.) I need this movie on DVD right bloody now.
I do have to fault Borders, though. Usually, when true-story movies come out, Borders has books about the real story all ready for you to buy. I couldn't find a damn one on the US Olympic hockey team when I went there. I think I need to hit Amazon.com.
