I think I may just give my mom a link to my wishlist when my birthday rolls around and let her shop off that for Christmas, too. The "Add to wish list" widget where you can pretty much add anything on the internet is going to kill me, though. I keep reminding myself of books I don't have or lost somewhere along the way (I used to have almost the entire Bridgerton series but I keep losing them when I move).
I added a DS to my list, too. What games for that are worth adding to the list? I'm more into puzzles and classic games, so what would I like? (Of course, I've already added Scribblenauts. Heh.)
I wish I had a job already so I could shop again. I'm such a child, I swear. Mail makes me happy and shopping makes me happy, so shopping on the internet gives me something to look forward to. :)
In other news, I fell asleep on the couch last night and would have stayed there the entire night, except the chinchillas decided to use their cage like a bouncy castle and were so loud jumping around I stomped blearily into my bedroom and closed the door, which I didn't realize until five in the morning when Otis started screaming at my door. Bah. *yawns*
But this entry from Not Always Right made my morning complete:
(I’m shopping in a video game store, and an older, overweight, bald man comes into the store alone and proceeds to ask the greatest question I have ever heard.)
Customer: “Do you have the singing game that lets YOU be the star?”

I'd suggest Chrono Trigger, too, but that's because I'm an RPG nerd. ;)
What you need for the DS is...
Date: 2009-07-03 01:55 pm (UTC)Also, Professor Layton is good for a puzzle-lover but I found it frustrating. The puzzles are mostly either (a) right out of every puzzle book kids like me ever went through (there's a variation on the cannibals-cross-the-river problem, at least two variations on the use-a-5-and-3-liter-container-to-make-4-liters problem, and so on and so on) or really badly and ambiguously written. Get a used copy. ;)

Elaby really likes Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and the FInal Fantasy games for the DS. And she loves Super Mario for the DS too :)

Date: 2009-07-04 08:03 am (UTC)Oh, Brain Age will also last you some time, as well. But only pick up one of them--I found the first one addictive, but not so much the second one. I think I can only really handle one of them daily.
The guys who did Scribblenauts also did a game called "Drawn to Life," in which you draw your weapons and such. I haven't played it myself yet, but it also got reasonably good critical reviews, although nothing nearly as enthusiastic as Scribblenauts.
Ooh, ooh, and yes, Elite Beat Agents. This is a game in which an elite squad of Men in Black need to dance to a Jamiroquai song to encourage the son of an auto magnate to ninja suit up and recover his dad's blueprints from a rival corporation. They will also have to dance to Ashlee Simpson to get a white blood cell to fight off a cold. Seriously. Even if you're not into rhythm gaming much, the scenarios they present are so wildly OTT that you can't really help but love it.
