While I was watching some true crime show on E!, they aired one of those commercials where they ask a question and people go into a booth and answer the question for the cameras:

Announcer: "We asked you ... who was the hottest superhero, Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, or Robert Downey Jr.?"
Drunk Girl (with friends): "CHRISTIAN BAAAAAALE? WHAT HAPPENED TO JOHNNY DEPP?!"

Uh ... we haven't crammed him into rubber, leather and spandex yet?

Although, hey, I have a new goal in life!

I'd have to agree with her though. First off, to agree with another poster, I think that Jack Sparrow is a superhero. Secondly, Depp has always had this classic appeal, regardless of which movies he does. (He looks terrifying in "Alice" now, Jebus.) Bale popped up because of Batman (I would presume) and then everybody jumped on his bandwagon.

Leaving the Depp fans alone and confused.

Ironically, I don't think Depp would be too opposed to leather and spandex. He could totally be either Gambit or the Riddler. Then again, I think he should be a character in Harry Potter when they make the seventh...

... though I think fandom would generally explode.
