Clue is on! So much for getting anything else done tonight. I haven't seen this movie in far too long.
I realized today that Mark Sheppard has been one three TV shows I love -- Firefly, The Middleman, and Leverage. The first two died before their time. He kills Leverage and we're going to have words. (This observation brought to you by the sudden thought that hey, if they remade Clue, he'd make a great Mr. Boddy.)
Did I mention that I have another job interview on Tuesday? It's with an insurance company. Which is great, because all of the health care reform discussions are reminding me that I hate insurance companies. Also, it's a hour's drive away and I don't want to move for a job I can't be sure of liking or keeping. I know, I know -- beggars can't be choosers. But ... ugh. I'm so sick of dealing with this crap, I swear to God.
Oh, and also I got a used copy of one of the last couple of Dark-Hunter books, One Silent Night. Okay, here's the thing -- these books suck. An enjoyable suck, I'll give it that, but still.
At this point, I'm basically only reading for Ash and Nick. Who are married. Or they're just an old married couple. Whatever. Sherrilyn Kenyon will marry them both off to hot women -- she's already hooked up Ash -- and they'll STILL be together hundreds of years from now, bickering and sniping at one another and then sneaking off to make out. The last scene in this series, which is apparently going to be a trillion BILLION books long, is going to be like this --
-- except with two exceptionally-powerful god-or-maybe-demon-whatever really-really-ridiculously-good-looking guys skipping along the beach.
Of course, that supposes we get there eventually, since only every fourth or fifth book is about somebody you actually want to read about (like Savitar or Simi or Ash) and then the rest are about Apollo's fifth cousin twice removed or some random side character falling in love with someone we've never seen before or someone's secret surprise daughter appearing out of the ether. The next book is about Fang and Aimee, who if I recall were hinted at getting together ... uh, three or four years ago when I was still following the series a bit more closely. There's been approximately forty-seven thousand books since then. I think.
The only one I know I've read since then is "Acheron," because, hey, Ash's story! Finally. Except the first hundred pages of the book is CHILD ABUSE RAPE RAPE CHILD ABUSE RAPE CASTRATION RAPE RAPE KIDNAPPING ABUSE RAPE RAPE SOME MORE CASTRATION RAPE RAPE DECAPITATION RAPE RAPE HEY LOOK MORE RAPE ANOTHER CASTRATION RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM OH WAIT SORRY IT WAS JUST MORE MURDER AND THEN A LOT OF RAPE. I'd read ten pages sitting there with my jaw dropped open and then I'd have to leave the room occasionally so I could have candy and soda and hug my cat and absolutely NOT slit my wrists.
Here's what I want, okay? I have one wish for this series, and it's that there's only one more book. ONE. A nice long book, if need be, but one nonetheless. I have only a few requirements:
1. Nick and Ash finally get over their fucking issues and make the hell UP.
2. Half of these people lose their inevitably omnipotent powers.
3. Nick and Simi hook up. Like, for real. Because after all that trouble that resulted over it, I'm a masochist.
That's about it, really. It could be a novella! Wham, bam, thank you, ma'am, and we're DONE.

You know what I really want now? An icon of Tim Curry from Clue looking distraught that says, "She had friends who were ... socialists." That could come in handy on ONTD_P. :)

Date: 2009-08-08 09:28 am (UTC)I love the Devereaux but if one more Dark Hunter marries one of them, there are going to be issues. And the Peltiers... I get that you're bear changers but just cause your youngest daughter is hooking up with a wolf is no reason to hit her. She sees the good relationship her parents have and wants a love match like that. How wrong is that? Grow up and let your little girl (over 21 little girl) get a bit of love in her life.
The Nick/Simi thing... That still confuses the heck outta me. She's almost as old as he is. He's pretty much kept her a child all this time. But good lord, let the girl have some fun. The fact that it was Nick and not some bum off the streets should have made it better, not worse. Seriously... At least he was respectful of her and really liked her.
But new book is going to do the same things again. There will be tension between the wolves and the bears. Fighting will happen. They'll mate and get the marks (even though they shouldn't because they are just so super shiny and special). The bears will kidnap little sis and the wolves will kidnap her back. Ash'll appear to help out one side or other (or just to balance up the sides) and someone will play his song on the dukebox at least once when he's not there... And they all live happily ever after. That said, I'm currently waiting on delivery for it :)
