This Jezebel post links to a story about thrifty moms trading off babysitting duties and pooling their resources. I only barely registered the story until I skimmed through the comments and spotted this:

Stoneybrook, CT mother of five and gym teacher Kristin Thomas posted on her mommyblog, 'This babysitting co-op idea is nothing new. My friends and I were doing it in middle school. In fact, you can reach us every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon between five-thirty and six at one convenient number. Support a local, mom-run business in the recession!'Comments on the blog entry included 'Oh plz Kristy no moar - Caludia,' 'I notice you didn't mention my Montessori playgroup and our organic urban farming initiative - Dawn' and 'If you make me dig out that notebook again I WILL CRY - Mary Anne =^.^=.'

HA!

Oh, yeah. :)

(Aw, you never read them? They were some of my favorite books when I was growing up. They were terribly addictive.)

I don't know if this commenter is genius, the blogger is genius, or everyone missed something, but said blogger can't exist. There is no Stoneybrook, CT. Alas.

There is, however, a Stamford, CT, and a Stonybrook, NY, which always amused me as a CTer growing up reading the BSC. Way to fictionalize by way of name-swapping, Ann M Martin.

Pretty funny story though :D It makes me miss being an AVID READER of those books, as completely formulaic as they were now that I look back.
