Heidi Pratt performs on the Miss Universe pageant. You know what I think when I see that? "That woman loves Jesus. A LOT." Oh, and also, about halfway through, I thought, "Good Lord, but Britney Spears is a fantastic pop performer, isn't she?" I mean, she's not perfect, but she's certainly not THAT.

This is AMAZING. It's a clip from The Young And The Restless from this week. The guy playing Paul doesn't get a lot of juicy storylines. You can tell.

6 Web How-To's That Are Apparently For Supervillains

They're showing I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant for the rest of the night on Discovery Health, so if you want to feel smarter and grateful, have I got a marathon for you.

I can see having one, MAYBE two, of the I Didn't Know I was Pregnant shows. The fact that there are enough women out there that didn't know they were pregnant UNTIL THEY WERE GIVING BIRTH to make a TV series? It boggles my mind. Are women just that out of touch with their bodies? Srsly?

Though I do kinda like the Surprise!Twins shows...

I get it on some level because, really, not every pregnancy is the same, and the majority of these women either rarely or never have a period. A lot of them are overweight, and most of them, even the ones who've had kids before, have almost no symptoms whatsoever. And if you have no reason to believe you're pregnant, then you're really not going to attribute a bit of back pain or some fatigue to a baby.

Plus, a lot of these women are on birth control of some sort, so it ends up being a rare convergence of circumstances that just comes together to hide a pregnancy until they give birth in the bathroom or something. They've only had maybe ten episodes, too, so it's only something like twenty women. (Well, at least this season.)

I can totally get not knowing you are pregnant. Because, you're right, there can be circumstances that may make it to where you don't even think you could be.

BUT as a quite overweight woman with seriously wonky periods (I have gone a year between them), I did miss many of the very early signs of pregnancy. I never had morning sickness. I gained a total of ten pounds. At my baby shower, when I was about 8 months pregnant, my grandmother told me that I didn't even look pregnant. Just a little chubby. lol

That said, I just can't see how you could mistake fetal movement for anything else. I know the business about anterior placentas and whatnot, but my kid kicked me hard enough to take my breath away and it was unmistakable as to what it was.

I'm not saying that I think they are lying or that it never happens. I'm just surprised that it has happened to enough women for there to even be a sampling of 20 women to make a series.

A lot of them aren't experiencing fetal movement, either, though. I've seen all of the episodes and I think only one mentioned feeling anything. (Now, that one I'd call a moron. She'd been told she couldn't have kids, but she gained weight, didn't have periods, had mood swings, felt fatigue, and felt movement. I don't know what else that woman could have needed, honestly.) Considering just how many of these women seem to have psyched themselves out -- "Oh, a doctor told me when I was fifteen I'd have problems getting pregnant! I guess I'm sterile!" -- I have a better time believing that they believe they didn't feel anything, but if they had to go through it again knowing they were pregnant, they'd either notice light movement or end up heading to a doctor due to no movement. Every kid's not going to be a soccer star in the womb.

The stories aren't all recent and they've got a few from Britain as well. So it ends up being twenty stories (or less, I think), over a twenty year period, in two different countries. Given that sort of range, they could probably weasel another season or two out of the concept at least. ;)

Eh, while I personally think a lot of it has to do with standardized health care teaching women not to trust their bodies, I can see your take on it, too. Sometimes the right circumstances can match up and wham, you're having a baby on your bathroom floor.

I will say that after I watched the initial hour long program, I now wonder every time I get indigestion if I really might be pregnant. It's ridiculous. lol

I'm sure that Y&R actor's scenery chewing is amazing, but I can't get over the fact that the blond woman is STACY HAIDUK from seaQuest. Dooood.

I suppose I've missed the point of the clip...
