CN is pretty broke. Not as bad as Cali, but they have a $10bn deficit projected over the two years (and as such thing usually go, projections tend to fall short of actuality).
You know, a national health system really isn't such a big deal. Lots of countries have them (like us). The way some of the people there seem to talk about it, you'd think it was the end of civilization.
There was a thing on tv a few days ago here (which I didn't watch) about health tourism from the U.S. and whether it helped us as a country or not. Plus side is that tourists pay a premium (though still a fraction of what they'd pay in the U.S.). Minus side is that tourists using our healthcare system means there's less capacity for everyone else.
Seriously, I have nightmares about travelling to the U.S. and not having health insurance, or my insurance not being good enough.
