The single most frustrating thing for me is that I live in the bluest part of a very blue state. All my reps are already pulling for public option. I suppose I could call them and say 'Good Job! Keep on keepin' on!" but somehow I feel like my red state family would do better at effecting change. =/
I know, right? My reps are blue as can be and hella-supportive of the public option. I send them encouraging notes once in a while anyway. It makes me feel better whenever I see clips of those town-hall lunatics screaming on the news. I feel like they could use an emailed hug, so to speak.
I grew up in Boston and part of me feels weird having moved to Virginia, but the rest of me loves living somewhere that it actually makes a difference if I call my representatives to let them know my opinion!
I called Kerry's office a few weeks ago, and got a lady who seemed genuinely glad to hear someone who supported the public option. I suspect they don't get people who are cheerfully to the point in their opinion, without ranting in one direction or the other, very often.
My Dad was diagnosed with a brain tumour a couple of months ago. Fortunately he's receiving excellent treatment from Britain's National Health Service. I'd hate to imagine him being denied treatment due to wrangles with a health insurance company.
